The interview went super well and it was easy conversation. Also I went to a week long soccer camp at USC over the summer and mentioned that in my why USC.

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: Numbers aren’t everything guys! Not at all. A 3.66 got me into the best film school in the country, dream it and you never know.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays:
Common App - Definitely unique, but a little risky! I wrote a poem and supplied a little anecdote in between. Basically my poem was me comparing myself to a computer/machine and it all rhymed. My story was about how I would memorize nursery rhymes before I could even read and how my cousin described I take information in and save it like a computer. It all intertwined because of the whole poetry/nursery rhyme connection and the fact that I intend on majoring in computer science. Not sure how it would be received to most of the colleges I applied to–but hey, I got in!
Supplements - In my ‘Why USC’ paragraph I basically talked about how I am interested in so many subjects and how I really appreciated their interdisciplinary program. Viterbi ones were just about how I want to use Computer Science to help lives and how geek/nerd can be seen as compliments if taken the right way.
[] Teacher Recs: Junior year Honors English teacher and Honors Chem teacher. Both love me and I participated heavily/was very positive and encouraging in both classes.
[] Counselor Rec: Good I presume. I talked to my counselor a lot outside of our meetings, and from the snippet I read, it was a good reflection of me!
[] EC highlights: Co-captain of the Math Team, Multicultural Student Union, Coding Club, Lacrosse, Piano, Korean Club, NHS, Volunteer Camp Counselor, A lot of volunteering really, NHSHSS[/ul]
Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: WA
[] School Type: Private, Catholic, All-girls
[] Ethnicity: Filipino
[] Gender: Female[/ul]Other Factors, hook?: I can really think of anything else? I was National Merit Commended Student but that doesn’t help me much… I’ve won awards for technology/computing but that was after I submitted my application so I don’t know.

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: I didn’t know what to expect after applying to USC. I’m so excited I got in! I really want to go, but it’s way too expensive. They didn’t offer me any scholarship and it makes me wonder if they didn’t receive my application by the scholarship deadline. :frowning: My advice: even if you’re a last minute person (like me) don’t wait until the deadline! Especially with scholarships! I applied on Dec. 1st but it was after 9pm. I’d expect them to go by PST but the Common App lists things with EST so I can never be too sure… Anyway I wish to be a future Trojan but it’s between USC and UW now! In-state tuition vs. USC’s expected contribution of ~60k a year is just… yikes. And UW has a great Comp Sci program so I just don’t know! Congratulations to all of the admitted students though! Maybe we’ll be classmates in the future!

[] State or Country: California
[] School Type: Large, Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian Indian
[] Gender: Male[/ul]Other Factors, hook?: My sister went to USC.

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: I knew that it would be tough for me to get into USC. I had only taken 1 AP class from my freshman through my junior years. I also only got a 4.1 GPA. However, USC sent me an email and said that they had completed an initial review, but wanted to see my senior year grades before they made their final decision. I asked people at my school if they received this email, and the smarter kids said that they received this email, and the not so smart kids did not receive this email. I then thought my senior year grades would be the deciding factor for my admission. I had a huge upward trend. I was enrolled in 5 AP classes and I received a 4.7 GPA. I was so confident that I was gonna be admitted after I received that email. Oh well… I guess that I should have tried harder during the first few years of high school. Congratulations to everyone who got in though. You all deserved it!
