Fall 2014 Transfer Applicants

Seems like there is barely anyone else out there but I'm sure I'm wrong because who wouldn't want to be at Penn!

Post stats and console each other while we wait for our decisions!

Applying: Wharton (lol)
School: Villanova (Honors Program, School of Business)
GPA: 4.0
Credits: 32 Completed (1st sem + AP) and I'm taking 17 this semester
High School GPA: 4.0, Valedictorian
ACT: 32 Composite
EC's: Equity Society, RUIBAL (mentor/tutor underprivileged kids in west Philly schools), Research Assistant for two professors' Finance project, Intramural sports (captain for one). 3+ leadership positions in HS plus Varsity sports and Community Service

Last year I got deferred ED and then denied, hopefully I have better luck this time around (probably not though since they take ~20 applicants). Good luck everyone!

@william95, I’mm applying as a Transfer to, and I was wondering how would they take it if I sent my documents, such as the registrar report, rec letters, sat scores, late. Do you think it would be okay?

@randombookie I think that it should be fine provided that you submit your common app and supplement by the deadline. Just try to get everything in as soon as possible. What school are you applying to out of curiosity?

@william95 thanks for the advice!

College of arts and sciences-psychology

Applying to: CAS, East Asian Languages & Civilizations
Current School: Boston College, Honors Program
GPA: 4.0
Credits: I’ll have 31 by the end of this semester, plus four semesters of dual enrollment for Japanese in high school, and 7 5’s on the APs
High School GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.3 W
ACT: 31 Composite
EC’s (Collegiate): Senator in the Student Assembly (1 of 5 elected freshmen), Student Advocacy Chair of my res hall, columnist for the school paper, contributor to and staff member on the lit mag, and selected to participate in the annual speech contest held by the Japanese Consulate
EC’s (High School): Captain of the varsity swim team (went to regionals a couple of times), President of the National English Honor Society (plus a few other leadership titles), had artwork exhibited at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL, and won a few awards for my artwork, scored highest marks at the state Spanish forum, etc.

Well, there goes my laundry list. Hoping that my leadership/GPA/essays/chosen major are enough to compensate for my ACT score, and wishing you all the best!

Applying to: Wharton
School: Harvard
GPA: 3.93
SAT: 2380
HS GPA: 3.9
EC’s: Harvard Economics Review editor, Finance club first year analyst, internship at Bain over the summer

@william95 how come you want to leave villanova? Do you not like it there?

@Wantwharton not many people leave Harvard especially since they do just as well as Wharton undergrads in finding business jobs. What don’t you like about Harvard?

@pallidpallas. Do you not like b.c.?

Just interested in why you guys all want to transfer

I really enjoy BC’s social scene, and the course offerings, in many respects, have been great so far. The issue is, I’d like to concentrate academically on Japanese studies, and, because I placed out of a few semesters of language classes, coupled with the limited scope of non-language-related courses offered at BC, I just can’t do so here. Penn would afford me a breadth of coursework that would make my current opportunities pale in comparison.

@wantwharton I’ll take your place at Harvard for ya…

@desie1 I’m not very fond of Villanova’s social life and lack of diversity. Also I’m looking for a school with better ranking / recruiting. Plus Penn’s just been my dream school since I started the college search

I went to Penn years ago! It has always had a great balance between social and academic life. I hope you all get in!

Cool a transfer thread! Another hopeful, here. Applying to CAS.

This school is one of my highest reaches. Not expecting to get in, but can’t hurt to apply.

@william95
@Juvenis
@PallidPallas
@wantwharton

are you guys sophomore transfer or junior transfers?

@randombookie sophomore

@randombookie sophomore

@randombookie I’m a sophomore transfer, too.

Bump since the regular admissions have been released, we’re next :-SS

would you be able to chance me? I applied to Wharton. I am a 17 year old(turning 18 in july) hs grad who jumped right into a CC. I should be receiving my Associates in Communications in August (taking summer classes). I didn’t take my SAT or ACTs :confused: i knoww.
I have a 4.0 College GPA and a 3.5 HS GPS
Phi Theta Kappa Member
NHS in high school
7 years of business experience (entrepreneur)
Top 10%tile in my high school class
Current deans list (in college)

@Hopefully My opinion probably doesn’t mean much but considering the small amount of spots available for transfers, it seems like Wharton tries to “steal” students from the other ivies / top schools. What does your 7 years of business experience consist of? Is that related to why you decided to graduate HS early? Good luck!

@william95
@Juvenis
@PallidPallas
@wantwharton‌

did you guys turn in your midterm report yet? I didn’t…

@randombookie yeah, but I don’t think it should be a problem if you didn’t yet.

On last year’s thread, the ones who didn’t just got a friendly reminder in mid-April. I don’t think they’re gonna throw your application in the trash just because you didn’t yet.
