Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

I have completed, but only because I sent my things in before the weekend. You should have until March 7th for uploaded documents to arrive so don’t worry! :)

Hey I’m a bit worried I wont get into McCombs… I’m a freshman and I will have 32 hours at the end of this semester. I have a 4.0 as of now but I think im going to make a B+ or A- in Calc 2… that will bring me down to a 3.91 or 3.96… does any one think that making a B+ will hurt my chances? Do they even consider your 2nd semester grades?

@JeffWinger

…u have almost a 4.0…u GOT THIS IN THE BAG.

After this semester I might be at a 3.5 or 3.6 applying to CNS (backup is Undergraduate studies). Chances?? I hope it isnt too low =

In addition to academic fit and preparedness, being ready to enroll can also be related to timing. In an effort to help make sure that incoming students have the time to transition to life as a Longhorn, the University is now giving preference to transfer applicants who have completed at least 30 hours of transfer coursework by the application deadline. Admission decisions for these students can be made well before the start of a semester meaning students have time to plan for enrollment. At least for the upcoming semester, however, the University will consider applicants who complete their 30 hours of coursework after the deadline and will hold a few spots for some of them.

this really worries me. a few spots dosent sound too promising for those that are applying with less than 30 hours at the deadline.

i called one day and asked about that and the lady laughed and said “honey, there are soooooo many people in your boat. you will be fineee.” I think they have anticipated that a good number of us will prolly still be completing our 30 hours after submitting apps so I think we’ll be fine =]

thats really reassuring. thanks for sharing that :)

@saammaay I would say your GPA is a little below the average for CNS but if you have good EC and essays you should be fine. UGS is good for sure,

@jjyoon36 where did you find that?

@JeffWinger I found it here: http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/counselors/jcc/transfer-times/spring2014

If I sent both of my letter of recommendations over a week ago by mail and they have yet to receive them at the office of admissions, should I upload them too? It says to put your UT EID in the letters, but I did not know and did not do that. Is that affecting it in any way?

@rangers32 You’ll be fine as long as your Rec Letters get there before they make the admission decisions. The case for rec letters are different from everything else.

these next 3 months are going to be the longest months ever :(

One last question (I think) haha. I go to a CC that is a part of a bigger district of several CC’s. My application status says I am missing my transcript from my specific CC, but it says it received the official transcript from my CCD (community college disctrict). Is that not the same thing? I requested it online through the econnect of my school, so I do not understand why it says I still need to submit it. Help please?

@rangers32 Wish i could help on that one. I would submit all the transcripts I have if i were you.

I will just have to call the office of admissions monday morning and see if I can get it cleared up.

Hello there potential longhorns! I am a former transfer who got accepted back in fall 2013! Into Moody School of Communication. Shoot me a private message on here if you have a question regarding admissions or a chance! Good luck and Hook’em!!

BTW the average competitive GPA here at UT is a 3.6. For Mccombs, it is ~3.8 as well as for Nursing!

@DeeGeeErbear Do you know if they’ll let me fix a mistake i made on the application. I think it might be a bit serious. i e-mailed two admissions counselors and none has replied me back. Should I write the admissions a letter explaining my situation? Do you think they’ll take it into consideration?

@rice00princess call as soon as the office opens on monday morning. they answer the phone faster than emails and if it is a serious mistake they should be able to fix it.

Might as well post my stats
Current College: UH
Current GPA: 3.23 (Really unexpected but hey I learned my lesson)
Applied to COLA for Government and Economics. Might switch one to Phil.
Bunch of HS extracurriculars (Major one-Volunteering for politicians)
College ECs: Young Americans for Liberty
No recs

I have 32 credit hours due to AP credits. I think it might help that By the end of this semester, I will have half the Econ requirements for an ECON major done. By the end of the semester I’ll probably have a 3.5.

I’m already nervous! This wait is going to kill me :(
