The waiting game is driving me nuts :-w

I’m really nervous because i have exactly a 3.5 and I really want my first major choice which is computer science, Getting my second choice won’t even be exciting…

same here. my first is CNS and my second is…UGS. I most likely will be getting a 3.5 too =\\

I’ll be happy just to get in the school lol. I know econ is competitive so i hope i can beat out some mccombs rejects with a 3.8

@jjyoon36 I’m in the same boat except I want to get into CNS. I’ll be happy to get into UT too. I just have to get in and then I’ll make my way into my choice of major. I really hope giving up Mays at A&M was worth it.

okay guys…so can i still change my major even though i submitted my app already? on my status it gives us an option to change our majors on one of the sidebars… I am thinking about changing from CNS to school of nursing. WHICH IS HARDER TO GET INTO???

Can someone tell me if GED effects the admission decision. I have 3.93 GPA with 48 credit hours completed and my first choice is mechanical engineering. Can I get into engineering school?

I am sure you can change your major if it is an option like you see. I know both CNS and Nursing are really tough to get accepted, but nursing is harder. In my opinion, I would leave it as is because I don’t know how changing your major at the very last minute would look.

So I was looking at the Spring 2014 transfer thread, and a user (I forgot who! I’m so sorry!) created this spreadsheet of stats of all the CC’s who were transferring:

http://sekrim.com/documents/spreadsheets/UT%20Austin%20Spring%202014%20Transfer.pdf

Thank you whoever made this!

Lot’s of gpa’s ranging from 3.3-4 that were accepted!

I applied with my major as nursing and 2nd undergraduate studies undeclared. I have a 3.7 gpa what do you think my chances of being accepted are? Is nursing harder to get into than other majors? I have 30 hours and will have 14 more after this semester.

Yeah Sekrim made that spreadsheet. Sekrim applied as a transfer student as well.

@rice00princess are you trying to internal transfer to mccombs too? i figured i would just apply to econ seeing as i had almost no chance at direct transfer to mccombs. i know it’ll be hard to keep a 3.7 for a year at ut, but step 1 for me is just getting in

@jjyoon36 you’re good for Econ with a 3.8… I wouldn’t worry if I was you.

McCombs external transfer is becoming harder (3.87 average now ) but internally transferring shouldn’t be too hard right? I think the average is between 3.6-3.7 not sure.

@JeffWinger Internal transfer is definitely the way to go. They admitted 72% of internal transfer last year. I think as long as you keep around a 3.7 for a year at UT, you should be good. Unless your gpa is higher than a 3.8 and you want to chance a an external transfer.

@jjyoon36 I was an accounting major and I was going to transfer to UT in my freshman year. But I thought I wouldn’t get in so I didn’t apply. Instead I applied to A&M and got in to Mays. In the end I decided I wasn’t going to go cuz it was going to too costly. Plus I wanted to switch my major into Math or Biochem and go into pharma. McCombs will never take me cuz I have 58 credit hours when I enter UT so I have given up on that. I just want to get into UT and get into CNS right now. I really hope I do.

@lovechickfila thanks. Looking at the previous UT non cap (I’m assuming) transfers make me feel a bit less anxious.

Does anyone know when or how long it takes to get an admissions decision?

To those of you who said they would be bummed if they didn’t get into their first choice:
Don’t get too upset, you can always change majors after your first semester internally. I’m trying to transfer into Psychology and hopefully transfer into Neuroscience after I get my Calc credit. From what I’ve read transferring into other colleges there isn’t very difficult. So keep y’all’s heads up! I wish you all the best, and I’m sure most of y’all will get your first choice pic anyways!

@Rangers32 If you have all of your hours (30) already then you should know at the absolute earliest Late March. (From what I’ve read from the Fall Transfer Thread of 2013)
If you don’t have all your hours (30) then you’ll have to wait until they get your transcript, so late May or Early June!

@Saborak that is a relief to hear! I do not have my calculus credit for the CNS, I want to do Public Health. But I have heard of students getting admitted even without the math credits! I guess it depends on the major you choose within the school.

Just a heads up though, I think Psychology requires you to have Calculus as well, from what I’ve heard, but don’t take my word for it. Good luck!

For those of you that do not have 30 hours yet and are working on getting the 30 hours this semester what does your my status say??
Mine says “your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 30 semester hours of transfer course work. we will make a decision once we receive this transcript.” Also on the right hand side where majors/residency info is located it says “incomplete” is this normal???
