Hello! I was wondering if any of you were prospective transfers once and if you could answer my question. I have been reading the UT transfer sites over and over again and I thought that as long as you had completed at least 30 hours of transferable coursework you would be able to be reviewed for admission as a transfer. I have completed 31 hours as of last semester and I thought I would be reviewed in April. Is this true? Or will I have to wait until I finish the Spring 2014 semester before I hear about anything.
I am just curious because I swear I have read that people received their offers of admission in April…

Hello, i have question about business indicator courses. i have taken two economics classes and dont have calculus one and two yet. But i have both calculus credits from AP credits and i accepted in my current college. Does it mean i am done with my business indicator courses or do i have to take calculus in college?

Danichus: I have seen that too, people getting accepted in April. If you sent it by a certain deadline, you can be reviewed earlier. I’m not too sure about that. I’m sure a call to admissions would clear up that confusion.

Wogud413: AP credits should count, but they don’t count as college “hours”. So you shouldn’t have to take the credits you received in AP.

Hello, DeeGeeErbear. Thanks for replying. Since my English is not good, does that mean im done with my business indicator courses?

Are transfer applications automatically considered for Undergraduate Studies like freshman applications are?

okay I’m freaking out a little… can someone take a look?

I’m completing my application right now, which is due March 1st, for transfer for the Fall of 2014. I am currently at Austin Community College. I applied to the UT nursing school last year (my senior year in high school) with a 97.7 GPA and ranked 48th out of 377 with much involvement in the school (Cheer captain, student council, national honor society) but was capped so I decided to go to ACC in hopes of transferring for my sophomore year.
I currently have a 4.0 at ACC, and will finish this semester with 30 credit hours and a 4.0 as well, or a 3.8 at the worst. I am applying to College of Liberal Arts as a psychology major. I am on President’s Honor Roll, in Phi Theta Kappa, have a strong resume with over 1,000 hours of community service, but essays that aren’t too great (writing isn’t my strength).
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of my chances of being accepted? I’ve heard that Psychology is very competitive. Also, what would you recommend my 2nd choice major be? I was thinking maybe College of Undergraduate Studies (if they don’t already automatically consider transfer apps like they do for freshmen), Education, or Social Work? I’m hoping to find a second choice major that is not too competitive and that I have a shot of getting accepted to. Please help!! Any advice or opinions help!

Wogud: no you shouldn’t have to.

Dgh: transfer apps are not considered for UGS like freshmen. Also, you’ll be fine with a 4.0 and your involvement. UGS is a good backup or liberal arts undeclared

DeeGeeErbear, idk what you mean “no you shouldn’t have to”. you mean business indicator courses cant be replaced by courses accepted by ap credits?

HI! I have a question, I’m applying to the College of Natural Sciences, however I have not taken calculus yet. Is this an automatic rejection? I’m also applying to COLA as my back up. I have a 3.75 gpa.

Also, if I get into COLA and not CNS, how long do I have to be a student at UT to be able to internally transfer to the CNS from COLA?

Since my 30 hours finish by this late may, does it have any disadvantage in admission decision especially for mccombs? Im pretty sure i can get 4.0 and still worried because i think it will be rolling.

Wogud: your AP credits will count on your transcript. You don’t need to retake the business indicator courses. Your 30 hours being completed in May should not hurt your chances.

Lovechickfila: your chances won’t be hurt for CNS if you haven’t taken it yet. You will have to take it at Ut if accepted. An internal transfer calls for one semester spent at UT, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and an essay. Also, you have to register for CNS courses and make A’s in them.

Thank you so much!! can you also chance me

Texas a&m University at Collegestation (Mays business school)

Sadly, i dont have any recommendation letters, since i just have been half of year in this university.

Thank you so much that was a big help! I will continue along with my application! I’ll post my stats too :)

Lone Star Community College
3.75 GPA , would be 3.8 at the end of the semester if I get straight A’s.
Applying to CNS, and then COLA as my backup
Public Health Major
ECS: Phi Theta Kappa member, 800+ hours of community service at my church, and AYF member for 4 years, I hold a leadership position.
My recommendation letter will be from my AYF group advisor.
Unfortunately I have no other rec letters, hopefully this does not hurt my chances.

Good luck to everyone trying to transfer!

Chance me please. Any feedback would be a great help.
Current University: University of Texas at Dallas

ECS: Chinese Student Association member, praise team leader at my church, also a summer camp counselor. taught english in south korea over the summer. also a private guitar tutor.

Most stats look pretty good so far.

Help me please. Currently not enrolled in any college.Went to a TX university.
Have 58 cred hours with 3.7 gpa (I think based on my calculations).
Applying as a transfer for math and economics.

I only got credit for Calc 1 for AP. Since I am applying for math, wondering if it will ruin my chances. Will they consider clep calc if my score doesn’t show up on my transcript? (I can get cred for m408c if I score high enough, and i just want to show them that i will be math ready when I enter ut)
I was going to put on my application that I will be taking calc 2 at a cc in the summer. Is this a good idea? Do i have a shot at UT?

Dee,
My GPA is 3.68, I plan on transfer to RTF but I doubt I would get in because it’s a very competitive department. At the same time, I also want to major in Economic but I heard that one is competitive too because of the McCombs rejects. Do you think it’s safe for me to put Economic as my second choice? Or should I pick an even safer route like UGS?

Is it true that that UT won’t make admissions decisions until they’ve gotten your end-of-year transcript to prove that you have 30 hours? I’ve heard different things about this…

@DeeGeeErBear
I have sent one rec letter actually and I thought it was enough. I can add more but I don’t think it’s worth it. I’ll try to get 4.0 this semester although I expect to get 1 or 2 B’s. I’m getting lazy as this is the last semester before my GPA is zeroed :|

Thanks for your encouraging comment btw :D

Hey guys! I’m back, I finally submitted my application and my letters of rec and honestly its a huuuuuge weight off my shoulders. I’m so excited to see what happens! I hope we all get great outcomes!!! :D
