Hey guys,

Have any of you applied as a transfer student for Fall 2014? If so, what are your stats? I'd like to know if I'm a competitive applicant.

Hey guys,

Have any of you applied as a transfer student for Fall 2014? If so, what are your stats? I'd like to know if I'm a competitive applicant.

So many views and no answers…please help me out!

Yeah I have! What kind of stats are you talking about?

Just GPA, ECs, etc! It’s my reach school but I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get lucky.

Lets see… my college GPA is a 3.8, I co-founded a music club at my current school, I mentor middle schoolers… I don’t really know what else you want to hear about haha

I have a 3.8, I work, and I’ve volunteered but what makes someone one really stand out as an applicant? This whole process is so anxiety provoking hahaha.

Haha I agree, I think you have a good of a shot as anyone else… I read on the transfer blog that the rate of acceptance for transfers is around 40% and the average GPA is 3.5, so as long as you’re in the top 40% of applicants you’re good.

whats up guys i’m gonna apply too if i finish my essays on time

my sat’s ~2000 (don’t wanna get too detailed) and 4.0 college gpa and 3.7ish highschool gpa
ok extracurriculars in highschool not so much in college

the only thing that sucks about transferring to uva is that you have to reapply for mcintire jr yr. oh well.

Sounds like you have an amazing shot. My SAT scores weren’t too impressive so I’m kinda worried.

are you instate caroline cause i heard that helps a lot. plus a 3.8 with work is definitely pretty good

I’m not in state I have a strong feeling I won’t be accepted but I thought I would try anyway! Decisions come out in early May right? I don’t think I can wait that long…

naaaaaaa don’t say that write some killer essays that show UVA is the school for you and you never know.
i’m out of state too so we’re in the same boat and yeah the tentative date is may 1st.

Hey Everyone! Good luck to all of you! Anyone here applying to McIntire? If so, it looks like we are competition
My stats: 3.79 (4.0 Business) GPA Sat: 1350/2000 EC’s: Leader in two fraternities, externship in a regional accounting firm, honors program, leadership program, and some assorted clubs.

@cnucaptain hey dude i’m applying to college of arts and science but hoping to transfer to mcintire jr yr. your info looks pretty good, best of luck.

also uva just got all my transcripts and stuff today now i just gotta wait.

@chemistryking thanks man! let’s keep in touch and see what happens. Haha get a least a handful of friends lined up, if we can make it in and switch over.

@carolinebrookea You probably are in good shape! I think the instate to out of state ratio is 2:1. If we looked at this from a worst-case scenario, I think that if you were in the top 3rd of applicants you would be fine. With a 3.5 as the median, I definitely think that you are there. Hahaha, the accounting major in me :)

i’m also interested in my chances. after reading your guys’ stats, i’m much more worried than i think i was before. where do you all go to school if you don’t mind posting? if you are uncomfortable saying, that is totally fine too.

Has anyone gotten the green check in their UVa SIS account yet?

I go to a CUNY. And no I haven’t gotten the green check yet Have you?

Yup, I’ve gotten the green check - but it doesn’t mean anything. Once you click on “View Decision” it just says “decisions aren’t available, come back May 1st, 2014.” I’ve heard it means they’ve made their decision but haven’t released it yet, which worries me that it’s a rejection since it happened so soon and my stats weren’t stellar (3.74 college GPA, 3.6 hs, 1800 SAT, some EC’s, decent essays, trying to transfer after 2 years at a in-state 4 year college into the College of Arts and Sciences)
