Hey melzer1986,
I also recently applied to College Park as a transfer. I checked and you’ll hear back mid-April, and have 30 days after that to decide to enroll.

Is it harder to get accepted as a transfer student than as a freshman? got acceptance as an incoming freshman, but not enough scholarship to choose to start there. Was wondering how risky it is to start at another university & if don’t like it, apply as a transfer student the next year or the year after that. How hard is it for Transfer students to get scholarships? Does it depend on where you attended originally?

As long as you keep your GPA high you will always have a chance of getting in! The best way to do that is to take classes that umd will accept from the school u decide to go to in the mean time. For comp sci for example they are very picky about their core class’s for the program. Talk to a pre-advisor and they will give u a list!

@arwilliams well it’s kind of confusing to me. At my community college (Prince Georges Community College), I got my A.A in Computer Information Systems, which is separate from Comp Sci. I’m currently at UMUC and I have already attained a 3.5 with the 12 credits I took this spring. When I sent my application in for this Fall, my grades for the UMUC spring semester weren’t posted since I didn’t start the classes at the time. My real concern is my chances of getting off the wait list. My degree at UMUC is called computer information science, but at UMD I think it’s called information technology(Business) . It’s all very confusing lol

Hey guys - I’m currently finishing up my freshman year at a university, and am looking to transfer to Maryland for the Fall of 2014 as a sophomore. I was told that it’s very hard to get on campus housing as a transfer student, so I’m trying to find someone in the same boat as me to room with on an off campus location, specifically The View or Varsity. If anyone is looking for a roommate or can give me some feedback on how to connect with other transfer students at Maryland, please let me know!
