University of Houston- Downtown
Current GPA: 3.8
Intended college: CNS
Major: Computer Science
EC: A lot. Volunteer hours 200+
I will finish classes spring semester: Calculus 2, Biology 1 and Lab and Chemistry 1 and Lab and Philosophy. I think my final GPA would be 3.89
I have Dual-Credit for English 1301 and 1302: GPA is 4.0
I have AP credit for Calculus 1: 3 US History: 3
My chances? What should I improve?
Is there any way I can get into UT and then transfer to my college I want to be in?
And if all fails, my chances for A&M?
Thanks guys

What’s your second choice major? I’d say you have a fair chance, your GPA is high and completion of Calculus 2. If you’ve done any computer science related courses I know that would help.

Yes, I just transferred into UGS and will be changing my major next fall to Biology. So yeah you can get accepted into UT and then change your major internally.

I wasn’t able to select UGS. My second would be engineering but I want to try to get into UT then transfer internally if possible?

@collegeboyy14 You have a good shot with your GPA and having calc 2 in the spring semester. I spoke to several advisors and they said that for CNS they don’t specify on their page, but they do in fact look for candidates who want to go into CNS to already have calc 1 and calc 2 - so you are in fact a competitive candidate. I would say Cockrell would be even harder to get into if you did not get into CNS. The college of natural science is known to be bigger and less competitive than Mccombs or Cockrell (the 2 toughest colleges to get into). Keep your grades high and you will have a shot.
Can someone chance me as well?
