Fall 2015 transfer Thread/chances

Greetings everyone, figured I’d start the transfers thread for the fall 2015 seeing how it’s been a tradition the past few falls lol…
I’ll start off by posting my stats and would appreciate any input on my chances and would like to hear everyone else’s stats as well and the college/program your applying to at Northeastern…

For Highschool I wasn’t the stellar achiever, and did horribly bad, I’d say I probably have a 1.6 more or less, not really proud of it.
Currently I’m enrolled at Miami Dade College and have a 3.81. I’m hoping NU will see that I have changed/matured since High school. I have 2 strong recommendations from 2 of my professors and a strong essay. It’s about how having my daughter changed my perspective in life, influencing me going back to school and making me want to pursue my childhood ambition of becoming a doctor etc… For my EC I currently volunteer at a Hospice about 10 hours per week and I’m a member of the PHI THETA KAPPA Honor society .
What do you guys think my chances of getting accepted as a transfer are? I’m not submitting my high school transcripts

It really will depend on how closely your major matches your background. I think the fact that you have turned around a very negative high school transcript will be viewed as a positive. But there are other factors to consider, such as demonstrated interest in NU and a clear plan for the future.

If you approach it the right way, I would say you have a good chance.

Thanks for your honesty. yea Im hoping that they see that Ive changed.

I am a second semester freshman at Marquette university. I had 3.28 my first semester. I am looking to transfer to the college of science. I am currently a biology major at Marquette. Last semester I got an A in biology 1001, an AB in theology 1001, a B in psychology 1001, a B in chem 1001, and a B in English 1001. I am also part of the biology undergraduate society at marquette. I went to high school in Connecticut. My weighted high school GPA was a 3.4. In high school I was in NHS, ran xc, ran for the indoor track team, ran for the track team, and I volunteer at the library. My high school schedule progressively got harder every year. My second semester senior year schedule was easily my hardest. I had no opens and was taking AP bio, AP Euro, and I was getting credit from UConn in my Latin class. I struggled on the Sat and my best score was a 1640. What do you think my chances are?

Hey guys!

I applied for the College of Engineering. I am a freshman hoping to get in for Fall for the start of my sophomore year. I am currently at Penn State, University Park in the College of Engineering.

My first semester GPA was a 3.94 and I am playing intramural ice hockey, basketball and soccer.
I am involved in an honors fraternity here and I am also studying abroad in China for 1 month this summer!

My second semester is coming along well I have a 3.85 as of right now, but still a long ways to go!
I talked to an admissions counselor about ACT/SAT scores and if it was worth it retaking them. They said admission is heavily focused on college performance.

I got a 28 on my ACT and 1780 on my SAT, obviously it was not my strong suit.

Hoping we are all in Boston this time next year!

I submitted my application last Friday and I still haven’t received any emails from northeastern confirming that I did. I am really anxious to see if they have everything. Does anyone know how long after you submit your application that you receive the info for the northeastern account?

I applied a few weeks ago and got access to my account within the week. In talking to my admissions counselor I have got the impression that things are a little backed up at the moment. @bostonmk3196‌

I applied for the BSBA in finance as a freshman transfer from the University of Colorado Boulder. I currently have a 3.7 GPA with 6 years of active duty military service and heavy involvement with three campus organizations. That being said I do not have to report SAT/ACT scores or high school grades.

Does anyone know anything about decision release dates?

From what I read from the fall 2014 transfer thread is that they release a batch of decisions every other week starting a 2 weeks after april 1st. The release is not based on when you submitted the application either. You could either hear a decisions 2 weeks after april 1st or 2 month and their is no way to tell.

damn i just received my account info and they did not receive any of my transcripts which i sent in a month ago.

You might want to call them @bostonmk3196‌ . I had a similar issue where most of my documents were listed under required even though they had them.

Hey all! I’m a hopeful NU transfer. I applied into the College of Social Sciences and Humanities as a Political Science major. I currently attend a large state school and am a freshman. Here are my stats

Highschool:
-GPA: (from what I remember) around a 3.7 (I was top 18% of my class and primarily took honors and AP courses)
-Leadership positions: Student Body President, NHS Treasurer, Speech and Debate Co-President (also a captain for 3 years), Co-founder and VP of French Club
-ACT: 30
-Activities: Speech and Debate (all four years), student council (all four years), NHS (sophomore-senior year), French Club (junior-senior year), theatre (junior-senior year)
-Honors: two time speech and debate state finalist, speech and debate national octafinalist, district champion in speech and debate, Glory of Missouri Award recipient, school pride award recipient

My Common App essay talks about my experiences growing up as an Arab-American in a post-9/11 world and how I’ve used my negative experiences to help shape me as an individual and were influential in my social activism and involvement in my community.

College:
-GPA: 3.8
-Activities: Student government, leadership program, social justice clubs/orgs (I won’t name them since they have my university’s name in them).
-I’ve been heavily involved in speaking out on social justice issues that have risen on campus, nation wide, and globally. Several articles have been published quoting my statements and activism.
