Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

It's never too early to start! My name on here is Dee and I am currently a UT student who transferred from Texas State in Fall 2013. I'm offering advice and chances for next Fall. If you would like a chance, please format as follows:

Current College. (Ex: Texas State)
Current GPA (3.7) Expected (3.9)
College Applied for (Moody Communication)
List of Extracurriculars
Essay topics and quality
Letters of recommendation # and who wrote them

Ask any questions you like, and Hook'em!!!

Current College- UT Dallas (Business Honors)
Current GPA- 3.82
College Applied for Mccombs
List of Extracurriculars
MIS Club, Entrepreneurship Club, Environnemental Club, and i also work a part time job.
Essay topics and quality: Pretty good Essays
Letters of recommendation: 2 letters. One is the professor of one of my honors classes and another is from the associate dean of the business school.

Here is my predicament. When i submit my application, i will only have 27 hours completed. After the spring semester i will have 41. Do you think this will affect my application?

Do you need letter of recommendation? If so, what is the appropriate way to submit it? Do I just put the letter in my packet or is it need to be send separately by the professor.

When it says,
“If you have 90 or more semester hours of completed coursework when applying for transfer
admission, you are encouraged to consider other options.”

Are they talking about 90+ TRANSFERABLE coursework or 90+ hours of both transferable AND nontransferable courswork?

I have more than 90 credits but it seems like only 60~70 hours are transferable. Am I not even eligible to apply? I’m so scared :(

Wait, this thread is 2015! Do you think it’s too early?

It’s never too early! Half your transcript has already been completed, and then you’ll be submitting it in May!

Armin: you’re completely fine! As long as by spring you have more than 30 hours, that’s what they’re wanting. They want to see if you improve or what not in your spring semester

Oh crap this is 2015 I meant 2014! I was never good at math…

Hey sorry guys but I got screwed over on my GPA. Can you guys chance this new one?

Current College- UT Dallas (Business Honors)
Current GPA- 3.69

Armin: oh man that 3.6 could really hinder your chances. On average, Mccombs usually accepts around 3.8. A 3.6 is possible, especially since you got a dean from there to write a recommendation. Idk if Mccombs will happen for you, but if you put a second choice college than I think you’re an excellent candidate for UT.

But a 3.69 is basically a 3.7. Would you say the fact that i am taking honors courses and accelerated calculus could also be considered in the decision? or do you think that being in the honors program not matter that much?
