Fall 2015 UC-UC Intercampus Transfers

Cal >> UCLA transfer! Sad about leaving Cal, I’m not crazy about LA people but I gotta do what’s best for my major/job prospects… :frowning:

@melonpanman Dang, that sucks. Hope LA treats you well
Are you from norcal?

@soda4schrodinger Nope, I’m from LA; which is probably why I’m not crazy about it to begin with! My dad’s also a U$C grad, so he’s really pushing for me to go to SC, which doesn’t release transfer admiss decisions until June…crazy. I have a fairly bad/biased opinion of UCLA, haha seeing as how my dad and uncle went to SC, and it only got worse after seeing their football fans; they were ruder than the Stanfurd ones, which was highly surprising! Being in the band, you really see the full gamut of colourful characters and UCLA kids didn’t leave me with a very good impression (though USC kids left much to be desired, as well).

It doesn’t help that I’m a pretty introverted/introspective person, and UCLA kids are well-known for being super outgoing and a bit pushy. I’m actually really intimidated, LOL.

(I love your username, btw!)

I gotta say though, thanks to UCLA for being pretty fair about UC-UC Intercampus Transfers  Please Berkeley be the same (even though they had previously said they discourage it)

@melonpanman HAHA that’s great

My sister went to USC, and the rivalry really was something incredible. If only UCSD could have that same dynamic passion that Cal-Stanford and USC-UCLA have with each other, but alas, no football team.

Oh man, speaking of UCLA kids, I have a friend there that describes them as being “creepily optimistic” all the time LOL. It’s probably all that sunshine. We’re from the SF/bay area, so we’re accustomed to the darkness in our souls from the perpetual layer of fog (jk).

And thanks! I appreciate it

@81mamba, I have seen UCB do it. Keep the faith!

I just got into UCSD as a UC-UC transfer as well (Coming from UCR).

I just have a quick question. On my TAU, I listed 4 courses I would be taking spring quarter, but due to schedule constraints, as well as some classes not being offered, I was unable to take those 4 exact classes. Will my admission decision be affected by this? I still have all my pre-reqs and unit requirements done, and I’m still doing well in all my classes.

It should be OK.

@lindyk8 Thanks! Do you think I should call/e-mail them just to be safe, and let them know about the difference in my schedule?

Yes, send them an update so they know, but from what you’ve said, it shouldn’t change your status,

@lindyk8 Thanks again! I was stressing out last night over this, as UCSD was my dream school, and I didn’t know that you could update the TAU after it was initially submitted.

@DanTheTingler What major did you apply as and what was your GPA? I’m at UCR too right now.

I was a computer science major at UCR, and I applied as computer science major to UCSD, but was admitted as undeclared. I had a 3.65 GPA!

You can be admitted as undeclared as a junior transfer? Didn’t know that. Anyways congrats!

@chs2014. Sadly, yes. I applied for CS at UCSD, which was heavily impacted. Thanks!

On a side note, can anyone give me advice on how to get credits from the classes I’m taking at UCR right now at UCSD? I’ve heard I need to petition for each and every one of my courses, which seems like a really lengthy process.

If you have finished all the GE courses that UCR requires, then you need to ask for a letter of reciprocity so you won’t have to do GEs at UCSD. Otherwise I would contact UCSD since their college system makes things weird.

Anyone get into berkeley?

Bump why isn’t this as big as the threads from the last few years?

Is anyone going to LA?

@81Mamba do you mind sharing your stats?
