If UCLA really does release decisions on the 17th then I’m going to laugh because that means all the other uni’s I applied to besides UCR will release their decisions on the 17th. UCI’s release date is also rumored to be the 17th this year and I think UC Davis said they were releasing their decisions on the 17th.
I believe those getting emails is a really good thing. I don’t think they would ask for information if you didn’t have a chance of getting in. I haven’t gotten any emails from UCLA since I applied
I don’t think I’ll get accepted. My stats are…
Major: Sociology
AA-T Sociology
Tap: no
Location: SoCal
GPA: 3.69
I believe my essays were pretty good since I talked about how I worked for a police department for 3 years being promoted as an intern, cadet, to a PSO and related that to Sociology and I had a UCLA counselor help me write my essays.
I guess we shall wait and see. Good luck everyone!
Yah I’d have to agree with you. It’s a really sought after major thats for sure. I wish I would have really known more about that before hand, not that I really would’ve changed it, but it could’ve been something to think about. Hmmm we will see. Let me know if you get in! I really hope you do! Were did you read the bulk of info on comm majors on here? I’d love to check it out for myself. @onmyway8
@bizmlover oh phew! Glad I’m not the only one. My major isn’t related to math at all… I’m women and gender studies. To be honest, I felt UCLA was a stretch for me. My essays and ECs are strong but I only applied with a 3.6. The wait feels physically painful. So much luck and love to everyone also waiting on tenterhooks!
I’ve also been following this discussion for a while (to make sure I haven’t missed anything!) so hello! Can you say what my chances are?
Major: Geography (not impacted)
GPA: It comes out to be like a 3.6 (I have a lot of extra units, its a 3.3 with everything, but if you pick and choose needed classes UCLA considers it a 3.6)
EC: A lot! I’ve done theatre all my life- volunteer quite a bit.
I’m from a ccc so I know the chances are better as well because of the agreement with the UC system.
Also, I had really great essays.
Another question, for those of you who applied last year and got in, will we receive an email saying we are accepted or will it just say “admission decisions are released” for everyone and you have to check?
I didn’t, but some others did, usually to verify info put on the application or to clarify anything that admissions officers found confusing on applications.
@jessica1212
You’re at around the average for admitted geography majors last year, so I think you have a good shot. Good luck.
Oh, and you’ll receive an email notifying you that you’ve been accepted. Still, you should check the portal because decisions will be most likely released there first.
@glondon You have a good chance of getting in because GPA admitted for gender studies is around 3.48
I’m not positive about email though. All I think is maybe they ask to put me on waitlist lol basically I just prepare for the worst
I got all my UC’s admission results on the 18th of last year, UCI,UCSD, and UCLA. So, yes, the rumor is normally true. It was a Friday morning when UCI sent me something, and I believe UCLA something around 5:00 or so. I didn’t even check for UCSD till the next day. Be patient young grasshoppers, the time is near.
The anxiety is just too much… Any one care to chance me?
GPA: 3.872 (This is my UC GPA, as I am trying to transfer out of UCR)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
EC: Not much other than tutoring
Essays: Not too bad if I do say so myself
Applied to: UCI, UCB, UCLA, UCSD
No responses yet
Got my fingers crossed for the next few days…chance me?
Major: Chemistry/Materials Science
GPA: 3.72
PreReqs: Done
IGETC: Yes
TAP: No
EC: Work at a law firm, volunteered at UCI Medical Center and Kaiser, and work as a private tutor
Essay: Decent
Applied: UCLA, UCI
Pending: UCLA, UCI
Keep an eye out for a UCLA newsroom posting of when decisions should be released, might be on the actual morning of (Friday 17th). That was the heads up for everyone last year it seems.
Chance me please, if @Cayton could lend his opinion too?
Major: Sociology
GPA: 3.63
Major Prep: Done (A in stats and a B in Intro to Sociology, 1 major course not articulated but I’m taking an identical course Intro to Research Methods, its just not recognized to fulfill the place of )
IGETC: Done
TAP: No
EC: 3 different volunteer things and a lot of work
Essays: Subjectively rate 9/10 (Did countless revisions and had it reviewed by chair of sociology at my school)
Applied: UCLA, CAL, UCSD, UCSB, UCI
Accepted: UCSB
Rejected: None
Other: First generation student, upward trend in grades (started off my first semester getting 4 F’s, then took a year off and came back getting Academic Renewal for my grades, then had some 4.0 semesters), I have only 1 C
Ethnicity marked: White/Hispanic (for whatever its worth)
Campus: OCC / In-state
My only correspondence from UC was from CAL:
