Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@UCLAme is there a link to last years post from UCLA newsroom? Just curious what it would look like on the website.

EDIT: Is this the link? http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/highly-accomplished-students-with-wide-range-of-backgrounds-admitted-to-ucla-for-fall-2014

They let ppl know a few days before the 18th last year with notifications set for 5p, but it happened around 4 as I believe.

UCLA notified the 20th March decision date for freshmen on 12th March ( per Ms Sun’s blog).
Wonder why no news for transfers
:((

I guess we will know in a few days assuming 17th is the d-day.

@UCLAme
Admittedly, sociology is very impacted and your GPA is somewhat below the average for admitted students in that field for last year. It’s not at all impossible that you’ll get in, but your chances aren’t too good. Hopefully, your personal statement will pull you through; you say it was reviewed by the chair of your sociology department and presumably it’s good because of it. Good luck.

Does anyone have more than one C ? I have two Cs from Art history and Eng 2, both not major related, I still have bit higher GPA than average admitted GPA, however, two Cs really make me nervous. Not an impacted major, (Asian Studies)

hopefully they will post the exact day tmr

no update to the website this morning regarding the date :frowning:

Looking forward to the 17th! I also think this is the date since its usually released a week before Berkeley and they’re the 24th this year. I was just wondering if anyone knows about this idea that you’ll only get accepted to UCB or UCLA. Does anyone know if that’s true?

Here are my stats…

Major: Sociology
TAP: Yes
Location: Los Angeles Pierce College
GPA: 3.95
Essay: 8.5/10
IGETC: Completed
Major Requirements: Completed with all A’s

@NNatanzi , I don’t think it’s true. I’ve seen a lot of people that get into both. I’ve also seen people who only get into one, but the UCs don’t talk to other UCs about admissions decisions.

^Obviously that’s ridiculous. Im tired of people spreading misinformation, claiming they know ā€œtrendsā€ or they know this trick or you’ll get in because of this. Just wait for decisions to come out, its that simple.

Chance me  And #pray for 4/17

Here are my stats.

Major: Biochemistry Alt: Chemistry
TAP: no
CC: Pasadena City College
GPA: 3.844
Essay: 7/10
IGETC: Completed
Major Req: Chemistry: up to Ochem all A’s
Biology: 2 B’s and genetics IP
Physics: started engineering series with 1A and other class in progress. In summer, will finish the life science major Physics( School waived the first part for me because of the engineering classes being harder)
Calculus: AP Calc BC with a 5, and multivariable with A
EC: Church youth and kids leader( Fridays and Sundays), President of Chemistry Club at school, Private Tutor once a week, Research at school( program partnered with Cal Tech)

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI
Pending for all.

Also, have a question on changing major and double major. If I get in, I was thinking I may change my major to psychobiology, because I’m interested in psychology. It’s not that I dont like biochem anymore, but since im considering double majoring in Economics and Psychobiology. I feel like Biochemistry is too vigorous, esp. since my next goal would be Medical school. Please give some advice as to if I can change major if I get in as a biochem major and also how likely will they let double major in Econ. Thanks!

@81Mamba yes that was the link that I was referring to.
@lindyk8 thats good to hear, thanks for letting us know.
@Cayton thank you for your honest assessment, I hope they find favor in my holistic stats!
Also @Cayton or anyone here, does the message from CAL sound like a formality asking for my Academic Renewal grades or does it look slightly promising? (I received the message on 3/21)

What do you guys think of an OOS chinese major with a 3.7 gpa xP

Ugh so sorry to add onto this but I’m paranoid as all heck.
Anthro BA Major
3.68 GPA (attended SFSU for first year and then CC for next two)
IGETC: Done
Pre-reqs: Missing linguistics because my CC doesn’t offer it.
EC: I work a lot. President of SFSU’s Club TaeKwonDo
I had 4 W’s because I had to drop a semester to work full-time so we didn’t lose our home. I wrote about this in my personal statement and also my additional comments.
Essays: Pretty solid, methinks.

How do you guys think I fare? I’m a long time creep of this thread but I can’t take it anymore and need to post because you guys know your stuff!

PS - might explode before the 17th, if that does end up being the day.

@kevinrayjon I definitely think you’ll be accepted! You are way above the average accepted gpa for biochem and you have all the prerequisites completed. I am also applying biochem/chem, but I have a lower gpa and missing one prerequisite (calc 3). I do, however have TAP on my side which I hope will help. Anyway, you should get in!!

@UCLAme
Hard to say. It seems promising, but I wouldn’t want to get my hopes up in case one gets denied from there.

@Cayton Okay, fair enough  thanks

Has anyone else heard of people being accepted? I was talking to classmate and she said that she has been accepted (Bus Econ), and she said that a few of her friends were already admitted to UCLA. She’s an international student if that changes anything.

@giraffinyoucrazy I’m an international student too, and most of my friends are international and I didn’t see any accepted intl. students yet, I just checked mine after read your post and there is no change.
