Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Are you sure they are accepted? That will be strange since UCLA has not given any indication of decisions

Was she regent…?

@Tristana regents haven’t heard anything.

@giraffinyoucrazy you either made up this classmate to spark a discussion or she’s lying to your face. no decisions have been released.

I’m international student and none of us have ever get accepted yet as far as I know.
I’m pretty sure she’s just lying or confused with other UCs.

They may have been admitted to architecture and gone to the open house…

Can someone explain to me what regents is? Are you suppose to apply to it? And for GPA is it UC transferable gpa or just total. I got one B in a non-transferable class.

@LuckyName : I honestly have no reason to lie. I was super confused when she said that she already got accepted, and even verified that she was talking about UCLA and not another school… I know that regent acceptances are pretty sporadic, but I doubt that she’s going to get offered because she told me her GPA is just okay. I’m glad all of you are just confused as I am because I was like ??? when she told me she was accepted.

Did you smell smoke? because my guess is her pants were on fire

looks like this week’s gotten less boring.

@giraffinyoucrazy Did she apply to the Arts + Arch School and got an invite to the open house? :confused: If so, she hasn’t really been accepted, although it is ā€œlikelyā€ she is in. If she applied to another major…then yep, I am sorry to say she was probably lying.

@cinemamedia : nope she’s in bus econ.

@luckie1367 : :smiley: hahahahaah seems like it based on everyone’s response…

phonsinyb- Google UCLA regents. You will find all the details.

"Students will be granted up to 70 semester/105 quarter units of credit for lower division coursework completed at any institution or combination of institutions.

Lower division units beyond the maximum for which credit is awarded will be granted subject credit and may be used to satisfy requirements."

Does anybody know what they mean by subject credit? I’m at 70 units (105 quarters) and was thinking about taking a summer class. I’m wondering how this summer class would be counted.

It means that for the 216 units needed for graduation, you are granted 105/216 even if you have 987,654,321 lower division units. You only get 105 quarter units.

Subject credit just means that all classes count, you don’t disregard any. I.e they will still satisfy any prereqs

@luckie1367 thank you!

Hey people I have a question! So, I have finished igetc and all my major classes and now taking just ā€œfunā€ classes for the spring; however, one of my classes is not that fun. lol. I know classes are not to be fun but it’s not interesting neither and it’s three hours and yeah I want to drop it. I put it as pass/no pass and called UCSB since that is the only school I was accepted to so far and asked the people in admissions if it were to be okay and she said yeah and then I asked what if I would receive a np or a w in the class and she said it wouldn’t affect anything. Then I called UCLA and she didn’t give me a precise answer she just said I would have to submit a class change online. I don’t think I would get into UCLA but there is a chance. I’m a philosophy major with a 3.5 gpa and 4.0 major gpa so I’m guessing I have a 40% chance to get in. Idk. So, what I’m asking is do you guys think it’ll be okay if I just stop attending that one class and receive a np on my transcript? Would it affect my admissions?

nobody ever gets into UCLA with a 3.4 or lower do they??..

My major sociology which is impacted…my gpa 3.37…so yeah totally automatic rejection. so much for personal statement and ECs huh? -_-

well good luck to all you high gpa applicants…you guys seriously make me look bad as an applicant haha. But hey…i have other options for UC i guess. But UCLA is very nice. Best wishes to you all.

I was actually in a similar position. All four of my classes were just for ā€œfunā€ but I ended up dropping one after the first week. I dropped it without a W, so it’s like I never took it. But I actually had forgotten to contact UCLA / UCSB / UCI about this until right now that I read your post. :expressionless:

@Samantha19 that’s actually not true. Lots of people with non impacted majors like anthropology, geography, philosophy etc get in with a 3.4, 3.3, I’ve even seen 3.1. But sociology is pretty impacted so your chances are low… But there’s still a chance!
