@luckie1367 I thought that you needed 180 units to graduate. I googled it and it says that 216 is the maximum number of units allowed regardless of how many majors & minors.
@AryoJahromi Material Science and law firm is an interesting combo. Iād say you have a decent shot
@History2Law 180 minimum to graduate, and 216 is the maximum allowed before hitting restrictions.
Oops, my bad. Thanks @FUTUREUCLABRUIN1
Hopefully UCLA releases decisions this friday (17th)
Please chance me guys!
GPA- 4.0
Major- Psychology
Major Prep- 1 IP
IGETC- Done
TAP- yes
EC: Involved in ASG, Philosophy club, and part-time job
Personal statement: Iād say they were decent (maybe 7 or 8)
Applied: UCSB, UCSD, UCLA UCB
Accepted- UCSB, UCSD
Also Iād much appreciate if someone could give me some insight into UCLAās and UC Berkeleyās psychology program. Iām not asking which school has a ābetterā psychology program, Iām very well aware that both schoolās are equally good.
@psych95 what exactly about your stats are you concerned about? 4.0 + TAP and all reqs completed. Obvious acceptance, do you really need reassurance for that? Hahaha break out the party favors
Looking at everyoneās 4.0s makes me so sad. I would have a 4.0 if it werenāt for my collegeās decision to switch to
+/- grades the year I enrolled.
Hello everyone. Iāve been lurking on the posts here and am getting anxious to find out the decisions. I am hopeful that the decisions will be released the 17th, but Iām worried that we wouldāve been told by now if they were going to be this soon since the freshman were told with 8 days of anticipation.
Relax. UCLA supposedly does a holistic review of applications. So, besides GPA they consider other things like hardship, grade trends, rigor of classes, work experienc, essays and ECās.
So people with lower than 4.0 also have a chance. At least that is what I believe.
BTW, I got regents from UCI with a sub 4.0 GPA. Many 4.0ās did not.
To quote @cinemamedia post #1202:
āFrom what they told us yesterday at the Arts Open House, decisions are indeed coming out next week!ā
This sounds like a reliable source to me.
@LegioLatius A 4.0 definitely isnāt everything. I was rejected last year with a 4.0 and my major isnāt even impacted. Heck, I had even completed more pre-requisites than another student on the forum with a lower GPA that got accepted. So donāt worry if you donāt have a perfect GPA, they obviously look at more than just grades.
zett, what was the major you applied with last year? why do you think you were rejected, even though you had a 4.0?
Hello world! Long time lurker, first time poster.
Would you guys āchanceā me? (I think thatās what itās called)
Major: American Literature
GPA: 3.86 (3.93 from current California CC)
IGETC: Oh Yes
Pre-Reqs: All completed with Aās except for 1 course
Essay: 9.4
Applied to UCLA, UCB.
Thanks!
I applied to linguistics and computer science. The other student had finished 3 math courses and I finished 3 transferable computer science courses, so I guess it had to be the lacking math. I never did ask though.
@Mac2000 , for American Lit & Culture, you sound good to me! Youāre well above the average admitted GPA for that major. Good luck!
zett, you applied with a 4.0, got rejected and never bothered to find out why?
The average accepted gpa for that major is about 3.5. Very strange.
Usually, a very good reason why a 4.0 transfer student is rejected for a non- impacted major. Some of the reasons could be non- completion of perquisites, wrong math classes, not completing 90 quarter units (AP confusion) etc. I am sure the gurus on the forum know other rejection reasons.
Oh, I assumed he finished all his igetc and major prereqs for some reason. maybe i misunderstood him.
indeed, not finishing those can be a problem.
I laugh at the people on these threads, especially the UCLA one. Why waste your time on this site when you could be doing something to take your mind off of it. Trust me, when I stopped browsing, time went by so quick that I almost forgot that its almost decision time. Thus, me logging in here quickly for an update. since there is no release date, I wont be back probably until actual decisions are made.
