I am prospective mathematics major. I will finish all the math and programming courses required by the major by this spring, I am only missing one chemistry class to finish up all of my lower division requirements for the major. I was planning on taking that chemistry course over the summer (which I listed on my UC app), but I don’t think it is going to be a possibility. Will that hurt my chances of getting in at all? Will it make the transition hard once I transfer over to UCLA? Will I loose priority when choosing classes since I would technically still be pre-mathematics? I can’t seem to find any links that answer my questions so I’m wondering if you guys know where I could find that info (I have tried calling the school before but they were no help).
@NNatanzi That’s weird… someone in my group at the Open House asked when we could expect decisions and they said “You should be hearing from us next week”. Ugh…
Most of the time students answer the phone and don’t have the facts straight. Not saying that’s what happened, but ppl just need to calmly wait the week out. My bet is still Friday.
UCLA releases all at once, or that is how it has been done historically.
@81mamba, Not always, but a lot of the time,. And I assume more so now at crunch time, although I cannot guarantee what the admissions practice is. In reality, I can’t vouch for anything over there. If it’s a student, you can usually tell by their voices. I called ucla regents about a week ago and it was obvious it was student. Nice kid, but he gave wrong info about past years, so then said he would check. Came back and corrected himself. Although he did say UCLA regents invites were coming after admission notices, and that part stayed the same when he came back on the phone.
@cassinthesky LOL okay well that pretty much narrows nothing down haha it’s either this friday or next… However, it seems we can infer this friday? haha [-O< :-?
Good luck to everyone anxiously waiting for a decision! It’s worth the wait
If you ultimately transfer I recommend taking advantage of the following:
-football tailgates- beyond fun!
internships. You can get class credit plus experience.
-visit the BRC, they’re very helpful for so much.
-find an activity/ group that speaks to you, and get involved.
Go see professors and TAs at office hours. It’s great for the learning, and also letters of recommendation.
-Meet good people! There are so many good Bruins. Enjoy yourself!
Bruin day for freshman was 3 weeks after decisions and accordingly transfers should have 3 weeks to prep for bruin day so yeah decisions better be released this Friday yo or I’ll have a major BF
