Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@trnsfrstdnt You can submit changes to the FAFSA at any time.

@tehkman if you are missing requirements, its probably a no

Do you guys think they’ll release decisions without posting the decision date?

@glondon my tap alternate is also gender studies. I have decided that if I don’t get in under psychology, I am not going to accept UCLA’s gender studies. Don’t want to risk not being able to change majors.

@LM1993 I went through the 2014 thread last night. The decision date was never changed. An update was released the day before or morning of (can’t remember) on some UCLA forum (don’t remember what it was) that they would be released that Friday at 5pm.

@LuckyName was it the UCLAnewsroom site?

@81Mamba yeah, I believe so.

My only concern for my application is that I am missing one pre-req - linguistic anthro. I’m applying as an Anthro BA major and have IGETC completed, as well as my other requirements, but the Linguistic Anthro wasn’t offered at my school; it was, however, offered at another CC about 30 miles away, where I’m taking one class which was one of the English classes required for all UC’s. I’m worried that they would have initially seen that it wasn’t offered at my main CC, and it would have been fine since the other one was far away, but now since I had to go to the far one in order to get accepted to any UC, they’ll just say “oh, well, you should’ve taken the other class there, too” despite time constraints prohibiting me from doing so. :frowning:

tl;dr missing one pre-req that is very commonly not offered at most CC’s including my main, but it’s offered at CC that is about 40 mins away from me where I was forced to take an English class last-minute that, without it, would have prevented me from going to any UC.

Other than that, I have a solid 3.68 GPA, worked full-time, and have a had-to-drop-to-pay-the-bills-semester-then-went-on-to-get-4.0 upward grade trend. What do you guys think? :frowning:

I actually didn’t see any people got into their second or alternate major, does UCLA really accept students to their alternate major?

Usually they only consider people for their second major if they’ve completed TAP.

@wlasm15 yes people do if you have TAP. and so, ucla will not look into your alt major if you’re not part of the tap program.

I believe UCLA college of engineering lets you add an alt in engineering (meaning two choices in engineering). At least that is what they told me last year in an email. However, he said the second usually never comes into play, because if you’re out in the first, you’ll probably be out in the second.

@glondon I applied to gender studies for my alternate as well-- African American studies is my primary. But honestly, on the odd chance that I’m accepted, I would much rather do gender studies. UCLA’s af-am program isn’t very theory based, but their gender studies program is excellent.

Looks like everyone picked Gender Studies as their alternate major with TAP! So did I, but I’m a Sociology major, so the two aren’t that far off from one another. I don’t really have a preference between the two; I just know that I want to transfer to UCLA!

I applied to engl. dep. 3.6 gpa which is borderline for this impacted major. But im tap Certified
alt. major Asian American studies. Only I have 0 prereqs done for asian american studies cuz my college doesn’t have any course articulation for it
I don’t have any more nails! I’m so nervous.

I’m gonna be in vegas this whole weekend and I’m literally turning off my email notifications until Monday lol

i SHOULD have done gender studies im so bitter i didnt. ugh
soc major 3.5ish
this anxiety is killing me

I am so anxious, I can’t focus on anything else. I completed TAP, I have a 3.3 GPA for Gender Studies, Asian American Studies as an alternate. I see many people with higher gpas applying for Gender Studies, I feel like I maybe won’t make the cut.

prereqs done (drive over an hr to SMC to get it done). I took many women’s related humanities classes too to boost my chances.

I’m so worried bc my whole could change by going to UCLA :frowning:

I decided to get drunk today, because it usually takes me two days to recover, at which time I’ll wake up to check the portal.

I refuse to handle the anxiety of the next 48 hours.

@fullload Ambien! Knock out and wake up on Friday.

How do we survive the next 48+ hours
