When do you guys think the next wave will be?
@uvahopeful101 I would say in a week
I got in! I had finals all day yesterday so I didn’t check then! I guess my grades were not needed lol
@treeel so you weren’t accepted on Thursday, but you are now?
@hoospls, I wasn’t accepted on Thursday but I was on Friday.
I am still on the wait list. Does anyone think there’s hope? UVA is my only choice. Have they already offered all the waitlist spots? Has anyone heard of people getting off the wait list mid to late June?!
“UVA is my only choice…”
You didn’t apply any where else? And you live in Boston?
UVA is my top choice. Still waiting to hear from one other school. And yes I’m out of state but most of my family went to UVA except my parents…which doesn’t help.
@bostonbabe what are your stats? What college at UVA are you applying to?
@plsplspls I’m wondering what my chances are as well! I’m in state, currently attending W&M. Just finished my first year, so second year transfer. Over 4.0 high school gpa, top 10%, 31 ACT, a bunch of officer position, held a job! College- good gpa, prelaw frat, literary magazine, Red Cross club, and community service. Applying to the college of arts and sciences.
Also, question to anyone who can answer it. I’m extremely unhappy at my school now and just thinking about going back makes me feel terrible. I was thinking of going to a community college near Charlottesville and apply again. Would that be a bad idea and look bad?
@uvahopeful101 That would definitely be a really bad idea - Do you really think that being in a community college would be much happier than being in W&M? Do you really wish to transfer twice just to get into UVa?
Transferring twice would be an extremely difficult and demanding task - I can write a whole page about that. Some words from a person who just experienced multiple transfer.
@puncherkid thank you for your answer, I appreciate it a lot! For me, I am extremely miserable where I am now, like to the point where just thinking about it sends me into an anxiety attack, so I think going to community college, as much as I hate to do it, would be beneficial to my health. I’m also planning on applying again to transfer, so maybe going to CC would help me raise my grades and increase my chances. Would it still be a terrible idea? Should I stay where I am miserable and unhappy and try to transfer again? I just need some insight because I’m at a crossroads right now.
@uvahopeful101 Do you mind sharing with us the detailed reason why you feel “miserable” at W&M? Is it because of academic pressure, terrible roommates, lack of entertainment, or something else?
For the part of transferring twice, I suggest that you’d better come up with excellent reasons to justify why you choose to study in CC in lieu of W&M. Besides, even if you can get stellar grades in a community college, they might still pale in comparison to “mediocre” grades got at W&M. I’m not belittling CCs, but it’s possible for the admissions to think that you’re avoiding challenging yourself academically.
@puncherkid I’m just not happy there. I have an intense feeling of not belonging and it doesn’t feel like home to me. There’s a huge lack of entertainment. Whenever I’m there, I count down the days until I can either go home or visit UVA. But if it would hurt me more than help, I’ll suck it up and try to transfer for spring semester.
@uvahopeful101 Actually I felt exactly the same when I first settled in OSU. Being a Chinese, I was nearly “killed” by the language barrier as I found myself having difficulty communicating with almost everyone. My roommate, besides, was a really pretentious guy. My life there was, like, made up of duplicate days filled with terrible loneliness and fear. But I eventually tried to embrace such experience, managing to overcome the “misery” without anyone else’s effort.
And here I am. As of now, I would only say that I have really had wonderful experience at OSU.
Idk if its too late but I would seriously consider visiting the assistant dean of the school that you applied for. Put in that extra effort and demonstrate how much you want UVA. Talk to them so that they can put a face to your application.
@McIntireguy123 how would we go about doing that? Do we set up a meeting or do we just drive down to Charlottesville and walk into their office?
Applied to A&S. 3.5 at top NESCAC school - although spring semester GPA dropped due to mono. SATs just below 2000. Tons of leadership, president of organizations, great work experience, cast in movie and sports commercials, community service and leadership scholarship, captain of several sports, etc. My extracurriculars made it hard to get 4.0. Still praying…
Anyone think second wave decisions will be made tomorrow or Friday?
