I just spoke with them as well and got the same answer as you, Natasha, that my application was still with the committee. Whatever the reason is, and most likely we will not ever really find out (nor does it really matter), we will eventually find out. Keep the positivity going-- looking forward to meeting you next semester in NYC! It’s a wonderful place and I’m sure things will work out for the best. @KindBoy hang in there too! We’ve all waited this long, its just a little while longer.
Amen to that @jswolfson ! It’s nice not to be in this alone
@NatashaLaPaz @jswolfson we’re in this together ! Let’s hope for the best :]
Yes, and the status was accepted…Wishing everyone else a lot of luck. My son is very excited.
Hi are there any international students here? Please help me. I’m an international student and my family can only contribute 20000$ a year to my tuition. I applied to Columbia College so the admission process is need-based. But Now I’m a GS candidate and I’m really confused about the financial aid package. I filled out the New Student Financial Aid Application and it can only offer me about 10000$ a year. But I need about 40000$ so what are the other resources that you applied for financial aid?? Please help me. I really really appreciate.
Hi, just finished the early decision app on the 29 of Feb. I was just wondering where I stood in terms of SAT and GPA scores of those that have been accepted early…just to assess my chances. I understand that Columbia University GS looks at the student holistically, however, I am just curious since my SAT scores are really really low…mid 1600s.
@zacle1234 I’m an international student, try to look for external scholarships, maybe from your government as well.
@zackle1234 have you called to speak with a financial aid representative at GS? What about at your current school? I found this website and apologize if you have already found it too. I am here in NY and if you need any help I could stop over at GS for you. http://www.edupass.org/finaid/
Has anyone had any updates? Feels like they are sending admissions decisions in waves…Really don’t want to call the office I’m sure they are getting a little annoyed. How many left on here submitted by the Jan 15th date?
@mike2011 yeah I submitted my application on the 15th so I think it’s gonna be a while before I hear from them. We might be put in with the people who applied for early action on the March 1st deadline.
@KindBoy I certainly hope not, I mean why to have several deadlines if you can’t promise that all be met?
I hope not either, but I haven’t heard anything back from them yet so I’m losing hope. @NatashaLaPaz if something was missing from the application, they would let us know right? I mean on my application checklist they’re all grew checks so I hope I’m not missing anything.
@KindBoy @NatashaLaPaz and for the January 15th deadline applicants who haven’t heard back yet, did you guys receive the email that your application has moved in the review process and the decision would be sent out by March 1st? And did you guys submit every material before January 15th? I did receive the confirmation email about tweeks ago and heard back this Monday and submitted all materials on January 12th (all material submitted means that they are on receipt of all materials that they require)
It is a bit strange that you guys didn’t hear back yet if you completed the application and received the confirmation email.
If the application page says everything is received, it’s supposed to mean that you are not missing any material. But if you are concerned about it I recommend calling them to ask about it.
@yesorno0101 I didn’t get that email but I did submit every required document on the 11th of January and when I spoke to the office of admissions I specifically asked them if I have everything and got a positive answer.
I want to wait till next week and call them again and think that it’s unprofessional…
So I called them and spoke with then today and they said that even though I submitted my apps in the 15th, my transcripts didn’t arrive until like February so I’m in the same category as the march 1st early decision applicants another month or two of nail-biting sleepless nights
@KindBoy did u upload unofficial transcripts with your application or no?
Hello all, been following this thread for a couple of days. Just wanted to say it’s nice to see I wasn’t the only one stressing about my app and all that. Got my app in just before the March 1st deadline so the next two months will probably be the longest of my life.
I know they mention that old grades don’t mean much when you show legitimate signs of improvement, and I really was able to do that. I had like a C average in high school and then a 2.9 GPA in my first semester of community college. I took some time off for various reasons. When I returned after a couple of years to community college I put together a 3.97 GPA after taking 25 credits between fall & winter. I’m planning on maintaining that sort of average this Spring. My biggest concern though is my SAT score. I scored a 1620/2400 because I barely put any effort into it. This was a pretty bold move in my opinion but I actually mentioned in my optional essay that I would be willing to take the GSAE exam to prove myself.
Anyways, that’s my story. Hope we all get in and congrats to those that have already been accepted. Will be following this thread closely over the next couple of months.
@KindBoy that’s weird, if you uploaded the unofficial ones it doesn’t matter if your official ones didn’t arrive as you have till the 20th of March to send them. That’s what they told me when I called.
Did anyone of you guys got an email saying your application is complete?
I submitted my application on March 1st but did not receive any email yet.
same here, i didn’t get any email regarding my application status.
