Fall 2016 Admissions

@jswolfson Yes that’s what they told me, after telling them off about the unjustified delay in my application they really made an effort to make it right and they keeping me in the loop now. And thank you! Fingers crossed! !

I had my interview a few weeks ago and finally pressed the submit button for my essay yesterday. It was just at 2,000 words, but could have easily been more.

All that is left is the GSAE and the optional essay. I take the GSAE in early April followed by an information session a few days later. I’ll probably write my optional essay after I have visited campus.

Then the waiting game begins!

I’m so damn nervous. Haha. I have been getting 700-710s on my reading and writing when practicing the SAT (excluding the essay portion). Does anyone who has taken the GSAE have any tips?

I can’t remember the last time I wrote an essay in paper and pencil…

well strap in buddy because the wait isn’t gonna be easy…i think some of us submitted in January and are still waiting on a decision haha. Anyways…the GSAE isn’t anything too difficult its just on the reading portion. The essay is on a topic which you should easily be able to write about (I can’t tell you what it is but just know you’ll do fine!) You will not be notified of your score unless you call and ask for it, I didn’t since I felt it would just be another thing that was out of my hands at that point. To be honest, I don’t think exams (SAT / GSAE/ TOEFL) play a huge part in admissions decisions unless you have not taken many college courses or any at all. Good luck!!! You’ll do fine!

just updating bc im feeling salty and I see that the dual degree program decisions are in… but it has now been 10 weeks since I submitted my application. Still no word. On the other hand, they have sent me yet ANOTHER letter inviting me to apply for the program which I’ve already applied to? :-w

Applied in January. I got an email last Friday that says I need to send the midterm report of the spring semester. Because I got two C in my recent classes. Now, I think I need to wait extra 10 weeks to get the admission decision. I am sure a lot of people have better GPA than mine. So hang in there.

Good luck moteak!

Do you guys think it’s weird if I call in and request an interview? Submitted my app on March 1st, I’m a little anxious because I haven’t heard a word from the school yet.

@ColumbiaHopeful99 I don’t believe they take requests…but also, you will most likely not hear anything from them until they send the email to inform you that your decision has been made. The only thing you should have gotten was an email stating they’ve received your app and your CUID. Again, there are a few people on this forum who submitted in January and have not heard a single thing unless they called admissions themselves. Last time I called the admissions office the woman told me to “be patient” (even though its been well over the 6-8 week time period stated on their website)

@NatashaLaPaz have you heard anything yet?

Thanks @Mike2011 …I did get that CUID email. I’m just anxious. I don’t know how I’m going to survive another 4 weeks (If they actually keep their word) of this waiting game. I’m also worried because the only other school I applied to was Brooklyn College where I got in and they said I need to make a decision on registration by May 1st.

Has anyone that applied by the March 1st Early Action deadline received news about acceptance/rejection or about interviewing? I can’t stand waiting this long…I just want to know lol

@ivyleaguetime21 Tell me about it…I’ve been waiting since January. I think some of us will probably start hearing back around the 22-24 though from what I’ve seen on older threads

Same boat. I check this forum like twice a day to see if anybody has any developments.

Yeah honestly, I check this forum almost every day. It’s gotten pretty addicting lol Has anyone had their interview yet??

Hey guys, I wonder if international applicants get interviews as well? When do we receive them and how are we interviewed? Via phone/Skype?

@Youtopia I assume it’s via phone.

Thank you @pobox123 When can I receive it after submitting my application? Do you have any experience for the interview?

No I don’t, but from other threads, applicants are usually notified an interview offer through email. Also, from other threads, an interview is quite rare.

Looking at last year’s thread people started getting notified around the 22 or 24th of April and through May. If I don’t get notified of a decision in the next couple of weeks im going to flip. I’ve been waiting since January :((
I feel like it would have been faster to send them a hand written note saying “Do you like me? check yes or no” haha. Good luck everyone!

Hey guys I applied early decision but didn’t send in my essay due to family problems. I’m planning on sending it this week. I understand that I’ll probably get my decision around June since the deadline is June 1st, but do you think I’ll still be able to get an interview? Has this set me back for admission?

I’m an international by the way.

Thank you

I applied after the EA deadline, so I’m waiting to hear back just like most of you! What makes it worse is that I did my phone interview over 2 months ago… the website says that they release results on a rolling basis starting May 1 through JULY. I just can’t wait that long!
