Yeah I didnt expect an outright rejection, but I guess a deferment like you said. Though the regular decision pool would be better than waiting till next Spring. I got it last Friday, scheduled for this upcoming Friday. I’ll let you guys know what kinds of questions they ask!
Did you submit your application before January 15th? @MikeSauce
Just wondering if they may be sending out decisions soon.
For those of you who have completed the application before January 15th, does your application status page or your application page show your application is completed or did you receive email saying your application is completed? I finished my application before January 15th but I didn’t receive any email nor do my application status page and application page say it’s completed.
Before I submitted, I called the college and asked them which materials they received because there was difference between what I submitted and what the application status page said. And they told me that they recieved everything I turned in except the essay and one of my recommendation. A few days after, I submitted both before January 15th but my application page still says nothing about the completion of application. But it says they recieved both. The application status page still doesn’t reflect materials I turned in. And also I was told that I should use the application page (not the application status page) in order to see my status.
I didnt so Im expecting a decision by May 1, but if you did then you should expect a decision by March 1
@yesorno0101 I never received explicit confirmation through email that my application was complete, but spoke with someone in admissions who told me that it was. She also told me that I’ll receive an email when the status of my application has changed. I’ve been checking the application management page that lists the status of required documents but nothing about the status of the application as a whole. Where were you able to find an application status page?
Thank you for answering. What I mean by the application status page is this page https://admissions.columbia.edu
This page doesn’t reflect my status accurately and what i mean by the application page is this page https://admissions.gs.columbia.edu/apply/?pk=GS This page reflects my status accurately
Did you submit scholarship application? if so, did you receive email that they have received your application. I didn’t receive any email from them but i have submitted already.
Did they provide you with an applicant ID @yesorno0101 ? I never received one. And I’m applying for scholarships soon.
Yes I have an applicant ID. Soon after I submitted the first part of application, I received email with an applicant id.
Did you call the school and they told me that your application was completed? What does your application page look like? My page says each entry received but doesn’t say it’s completed.
I submitted the personal statement on the 15th of January and at that point they had received all my other documents. I called the committee to make sure the application was complete and she said it was. I’ll have to check for my applicant ID. I’ve been checking the application management page that has the application checklist on the left side of the page. It also gives you the option to display the required essay.
I’ve been checking the application management page too. @MikeSauce When did you complete your application? I f you are applying for March 1st deadline, it seems very early to receive interview offer now.
I’ve only recently completed to first part of the application, I havent even finished the essay, I thought it was strange too. But Im in this veteran network group called Service to Schools and they submitted my resume with unofficial transcripts a while ago, so I’m guessing they’ve been scrutinizing the heck out of that stuff.
I see, but as others said, I think it is a good sign because they wouldn’t request an interview to applicants they are not interested in.
@MikeSauce Are your transcripts from a community college? Does seem a bit early to request an interview. I have yet to receive any feedback on my application, but it’s only been a few weeks and it doesn’t seem like any other decisions have gone out (at least according to this thread)
One set is, another is from UC Berkeley (student visitation). I mean if you’re a shoe in then I guess they dont have a reason to contact you.
@nickdrake sorry about the late reply. Yes I am an international applicant. I’ve lived all over the place but I went to school in Australia and I’m currently interning in Japan.
Hey guys. Does anybody know when can we track the application? when everything is completed ?
I was sent a CUID but it’s not working!
I think you can track your status on this page https://admissions.columbia.edu
But it takes time to reflect your status
Or if you already completed the first part of application you can use the application page in order to track your status
At least that’s what I was told
There are two different pages to check regarding the status of the application and they both pretty much do the same thing–I discovered that today after finding out my CUID. If you’re having problems with that then I’d call the admissions department. General Studies doesn’t have an application tracking feature that allows you to see where the committee is in terms of its progress on your decision. Both pages just tell you whether or not required documents were received. Again I was told that I will receive an email when my admissions status changes. If you read previous threads other applicants have received phone calls as well, but this doesn’t seem to be the standard for every case. @mbmtg16 Did you meet the January 15th deadline?
I have also enlisted the help of Service2School in my quest to Columbia GS admittance. How long have you been with the program? I am about two weeks in so far and it’s been a huge help. By the way, have you checked out the Warrior Scholar Project? Applications are open until April. http://warrior-scholar.org/
@nickdrake I’m applying for Fall early action by March 1st. But I already submitted the part I of the application and only left to submit the essay. The thing is I can track it through application management but not though track application where you put your CUID.
