Hey just two cents for those moving to NY, if your monthly housing bill through the school is north of 800 your definitely better off finding either a studio or finding a place that you can room. If you look for an apartment in Washington heights/ Hamilton heights, which is the area north of CC, you can find some 3-4 bedroom apartments that are reasonably priced (assuming you can get reliable roommates). IMO 1100 would at worst get you a studio if your willing to travel 20 min. uptown (train).
I wonder if it’s too late for me to get into Columbia housing… @Tajeli so 800 a month with roommates should be the benchmark?
@oddballer yeah if you got roomates could definitely swing a place for 800 each. A studio or 1 bedroom a little bit uptown usually go for 1000-1200. It might take some time to find roomates and an apartment but you should try to find a place off campus by the spring semester, since it can save you $300-400 (assuming gs housing is 1100-1200). If money isn’t an issue then it’s totally worth it to live on campus since you’ll be able to emme
@oddballer Congratulations. I got an interview yesterday, hope everything goes well.
@Xixixi_Tong I’m sure you did well
On the side note, for those who recently received their admission, have you gotten your admission package? I accepted the offer on the 14th. Any idea how long it takes for them to send the admission documents to Canada?
@oddballer thank you, just not sure whether an interview is a good sign or bad sign. They told me I will receive a final decision in five business days… blessing
Anyone else deferring for the spring semester?
@Tajeli I decided to enroll for Fall. Are you deferring for Spring?
Is anyones still waiting?
@Xixixi_Tong you heard back yet, friend?
@oddballer yeah I’m deferring for spring 2017. Hope your first semester goes great and congrats, look forward to meeting you guys in the spring.
I wish I had seen this before! I just for my acceptance for GS. I didnt have an interview but I did have a follow up email asking me about my future plans.
Ill have to pay the $500 admission so I can figure out if financially this is going to work for me.
I have a place at a Cuny school (safety)…well see what happens next.
@Tajeli I’ve deferred until the Spring, specifically to save money. I didn’t receive enough aid for the fall (though I didn’t expect to- I knew my affording GS was somewhat of a long shot).
I assume by now that everybody has heard back for the fall! Is there anybody here that’s applying for the spring?
Has anyone received any decision letter for spring 17?
Admitted for spring 2017 here!
I received the update on my application profile that included the letter of admission/congratulations with other letters on the morning of the 1st.
For those that got admitted, do you mind sharing your STATS?
@Ozz2277
Hi, I read that you have been admitted to Columbia GS BA in Computer Science. How were your SAT and SAT subject scores? How many years of work experience did you have?
I’m trying to apply for this program but couldn’t find much info on CS students’ statistics.
Thanks and and hope you’re enjoying your studies at Columbia!
