Fall 2016 Admissions

@yesorno0101 I submitted the scholarship application a few weeks ago but I also didn’t receive a confirmation email. I guess admitted students receive financial aid information with their acceptance package.

@lp2345 Yes, you can use score choice for your SAT scores. If you’d like to confirm for yourself just go through the process of sending the scores to General Studies and you’ll eventually arrive at the option for it. I used score choice to send my most recent scores. @Systema Good luck to you as well. Hopefully we’ll hear back next week.

Thank you for answering. I was a bit worried. How many university did you guys list in the section where we are required to list universities that we are planning to apply? Did you guys answer honestly? I listed about six universities that at that moment I thought I was going to apply. But right now I feel like I won’t apply to many of them. I kind of regret it because listing up many universities might indicate that I’m not passionate about gs.

I listed about five others. Don’t regret it because the application explicitly states that the information cannot be used against you. The school will interpret your passion/interest in General Studies based on how it’s expressed in the personal statement.

Thanks @nickdrake. I’m sure we’ll all do well. Hopefully early action applicants have at least a slightly higher chance of being admitted.

Thank you for saying that. At the time when I filled out that section, I thought that I should be honest so I listed every school I was going to apply. Anyway I should stop worrying about anything related to application because I can’t change anything anymore. All I can do is just pray and wait for it. Right now I really want to hear back soon because this waiting game is not mentally good but at the same time I’m kind of scared to hear back.

@Systema I would imagine it works slightly to our advantage only because it seems like less applicants apply by this deadline. But yeah at this point there is nothing more to do but wait for the decision. After reading last year’s thread, a couple of the early action applicants heard back on the first of March, so it’s very possible that they release all of the decisions on that day.

Yeah the wait makes me very anxious. And of course 2016 is a leap year…

Does anyone know if rejected EA applications get rolled over into regular decision?

I haven’t read about this happening but I know certain applicants have reapplied for a different term and been accepted. I also haven’t read anything about applicants being waitlisted either.

@nickdrake
No, I didn’t exceed the word count but ice also heard it doesn’t really matter all that much.

Thanks @nickdrake. Did anyone else use Score Choice to send in their SAT’s?

I just sent them all the scores I have. Some older and very poor ones. And some newer and better ones. I’m sure they’ll only look at your best scores even if you don’t use Score Choice.

Most schools will only look at your best scores. I would still opt to use score choice unless you want to demonstrate progress by sending newer scores that are a significant improvement over the old ones. I could see this working to your advantage @lp2345

@Systema I’m assuming you haven’t heard anything yet? I’m checking my email quite frequently now. Only 7 days before March 1st but I’d still love to hear back before then.

anyone else’s app show green check marks under application checklist status saying received and then little paper looking symbols under those that also say received? I’m confused by what the difference is.

@Mike2011 These symbols will appear next to documents that you upload. They appear next to my optional essay, required essay and official college transcript.

^ so I guess it’s not just for documents that you exclusively upload yourself. I was at first nervous that I didn’t get this symbol next to my high school transcript but was told multiple times that the application was complete so I dismissed it.

@Mike2011 My page also shows what you just described. on the left side, there are something like note icon and on the right side of it, it says received and corresponding material follow that.

Did anyone else submit the optional essay?

I wouldn’t even know what to write the optional essay about. I didn’t see any topics or instructions on how to write it.

I didn’t. For those of you who don’t mind sharing, what is your SAT score?
