This is all I can think of right now. I’m currently working on crafting my application and hope to finish it and send it in at the end of next week. You can chance me if you like. I love Northeastern and it’s co-op program and I am nervous about my chances.

I would say you have a good chance, although I am not an expert. Good luck to you!

Chances?
Current school: Umich-Ann Arbor
Gpa: 3.75
Act: 33
Extracurriculars: working on 2 start ups. Manager at a Hampton inn. Internship at Northwestern Mutual. Hall council representative.

@Giraffing in the hope of making sure you don’t send in applications to the wrong school, this is the Northwestern forum, not the Northeastern forum. I hope, before you submit your app, you make sure that, if it is Northeastern you are thinking of, you submit to Northeastern, and the same for Northwestern.

It seems like you’re thinking of Northeastern because you mention the co-op program. However, if that is one of the main reasons you are applying to Northeastern, there are co-op programs or programs of a similar type run by many of Northwestern’s undergraduate colleges, so you might consider applying to Northwestern.

Also, our transfer deadline is pretty late, I think, so you’d definitely have time to prepare your app if you haven’t started yet but would be interested in applying to Northwestern.

I’ll be applying to Northwestern too! I’m currently a second semester sophomore at a university ranked around #50.

College:
College GPA: 4.0/4.0 over 53 credits
English major and Classics minor
Will need Financial Aid

HS:
Secular Studies GPA: 5.07/4.3 (straight A’s and A+’s in all Honors – school did not offer any AP classes)
Jewish Studies GPA: 3.97/4.3 (shows upward trend every year to where I got straight A’s, but was in Regulars)
I had on average 18 classes a semester in high school due to the dual curriculum.
I only took one AP (English Lit) during high school and received a 4 - I self studied.
I was accepted to my current university through an Early Admissions program, which let me skip 12th grade. So I only went to high school for 3 years.

SAT: 2220 (770 CR, 760 W, 690 M)
ACT: 32 (36 E, 34 CR, 32 M, 27 S)
Did not take SAT Subject Tests ever

College Extracurriculars:
Reporter for School Newspaper, Internship at the Mayor’s Office in a Nearby City, Paid Peer Tutor at the University, On the Committee for Programming at the Hillel on Campus, Member of University’s Grievance Committee, Note-Taker for Office of Disabilities at the University, Coach for a Little League Sports Team on Sundays, Social Director for the Condo I Live in, Founding Member of University’s Classics Table, Founding Member of University’s Fantasy Sports Club

Recommendations: Two professors I’ve taken twice each (one is an English professor and one is a Math professor). I went to their office hours a lot so they know me quite well, and I received A’s and A+'s from them both, so I think the letters will be strong.

I’m hoping!

Essay
Touched on reasons for leaving in the main “Why transfer?” essay in Common App, and touched on why I love Northwestern in the Northwestern Statement essay. Not reinventing the wheel, but I’ve known I’m transferring since before I sent the deposit to my school, so I had months to write and polish the essays. I had a high school English teacher and a college professor look both over.

Recommendations I assume are good, one from an Honors class and another from a freshman seminar teacher.

My hope is that my college GPA and ACT scores can outweigh my high school record. I never tried the way I should’ve in high school, and while I did alright, it was below my potential. I’m in a good place with effort now, here’s to hoping NU thinks that too.

I applied to Northwestern last year and was waitlisted. They said that if I wanted to reapply, that they would keep my previous application information for one full year. How does this affect my applying to transfer to Northwestern?

Officially sent out my application.

Does anyone know if we’re going to get emails about setting up portals and stuff like that?

@cheesecake51 I would try looking for info in the following links. If you don’t find anything that pertains to your situation, or what you find is unclear to you, I recommend calling the admissions office.

Letters of Rec:
1 required, 3 accepted
Plan to ask honors english professor, mass communications professor, and possibly humanities professor or HS yearbook advisor
Should I ask any high school teachers? Should I vary subjects (ex: ask for math or science)?

Does it matter that I have taken 6 honors courses already and 19 credit hour semesters?
How about that I will be the first in my family to get a college degree?
Or that I am half Hispanic (mother born and raised in Mexico)?

Anyone have any info on when Northwestern sends out acceptances since they are rolling?

The RD results have me a bit terrified. I was hoping my continued interest (ED->defer->reject, finally actually toured last weekend) and 34 ACT could outweigh my 3.53 first semester GPA, but at this point I’m not expecting anything.

@neoscarecrue
Look at last year’s thread if you want an idea of when the decisions will come. I’d think it’ll be similar date-wise.

What schools are ya’ll transferring from?

Did everyone receive the “application complete” email?

Yes, I did received it in mid march like two days after submitting my application @NwthisO

Only thing I got was a receipt confirmation email and nothing else.
