Accepted into Bienen School of Music! AAHHHHH
@WayTooTilted @cheesecake51 Congrats! I am truly jealous! Northwestern is an amazing school! Could you guys share your stats?
Anyone who also got in as a rising junior?
@gucci21 I got in as a junior but declined my offer a few days ago
When will we hear from FA?
@AylaBriana Exactly what I’m wondering… I emailed them Friday and they just said that they’re reviewing documents for transfers and will email us when they’re ready.
I want to confirm my enrollment but it doesn’t seem advised to do that before getting the financial aid offer…
I got in with a 3.5 GPA and a 30 ACT. This is music school I’m talking about though… talent > grades.
Has anyone heard back today?
Financial aid is a joke.
My dad is a retired vet with no income, and my mom owns a small business that makes a pretty penny, but costs a TON to run- making her net income less than 50,000 a year. Just viewed my financial aid today, and apparently my expected family contribution is 42,500 a year! I’m so pissed off! http://www.northwestern.edu/newscenter/stories/2016/03/northwestern-boosts-financial-aid-for-students.html obviously this means nothing.
@AylaBriana I’m in the same boat. My EFC was 20,000 dollars higher than my family can actually pay and they don’t plan on even paying as much as they can.
What a joke with them wanting to keep students out of debt – id have to go 100,000 dollars into debt to go to NU. Considering appealing but I don’t know if I’ll get my decision back by the time I need to let them know if I’m attending or not.
I still haven’t gotten a financial aid offer… but I did notice two new items in my to do list regarding Stafford Loans, which has me worried. My EFC is 0 and is completely indicative of my real situation. Of course, it’s not a big deal to take out a few thousand in loans to attend a school like Northwestern, but I should be more than eligible for that “no loans” thing they announced this year, unless transfer students really do get gypped.
Never mind, I got my financial aid offer and I’m happy! Very relieved that they didn’t expect me to able to take out a ton in loans. I hope everyone else can get a success appeal!
