FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@SevenBlue7 congratulations!

I was accepted with my alt major. A little bummed since I really love comms and I was looking forward to the classes in the catalogue but I had a feeling. Nonetheless I am grateful they still considered me.

Now to decide if I should go to ucla as an anthro major or go to a different school as a comms major…

ADMITTED

-GPA: 4.00
-Units: 101.5 Semester Units
-Major: Switched from Business to Math during my last semester
-Pre-Reqs: currently taking 3 prereqs right now(Calc3, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra), and I did not finish 4

prereqs (Engineering Physics Mechanical, Programming class, 2 bio or chem classes)
-Extracurriculars/honors: Finance/Accounting intern at Flextronics (2nd largest electronics manufacturing company in the world), community service, fundraising coordinator, and treasurer for honor society at school, marketing intern for a non-profit, volunteer teacher for 2 years, math and english tutor for 2+ years, volunteer pianist, won multiple scholarships, communication achievement award, won a talent show

-Igetc Certified

-Personal statements: I’ve shown them to many people and they all said they were very good. People included: counselors, 2 Stanford graduates, English professor, friends…etc.

Honestly, I’m surprised I got in considering I didn’t finish 4 prereqs, and 3 of my prereqs are pending. hahah. I’m really stoked, but my number 1 choice is berkeley!

@tedopotato12 I have to make the same decision as well. I got accepted into UCSB as a communication major and UCLA as an English major. I would much rather study comm but the allure of UCLA might be to good to pass up. If you dont mind me asking… what is your career goal and if you had to decided today where would you go?

Virtually anything you can do with a Communications degree can be just as easily done with an English degree. There are fairly interchangeable in terms of employment. If you are planning to get a masters degree, then Anthropology could work just as fine.

I get it though. I was accepted under Sociology despite the fact that I prefer Political Science. There is a slim chance that I could switch, but I am not banking on it. However, I still have to wait for Berkeley before I even start thinking about that stuff.

Proud to say I was admitted!!
Intercampus transfer from UC Merced <3 !!!
Idk if I’ll choose UCLA over UCSB, but we’ll see!

@UCMtoUCSBHopeful Congrats! you are killing it! UC to UC transfer are very hardd

@tracy1017 OMG me too!!! High five!! the same major!!

Admitted!!!

Prereqs: all done except that one soc research class you don’t have to have done
Igetc: Yes
TAP: No
Accepted: UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, CSULB

The only bummer is I love comm and that’s the major I was accepted as at UCSD, UCSB, and CSULB but UCLA has always been my dream

@karmavee im stuck in the same dilemma! Comm at ucsb or English at ucla. @TheVisionary said the two majors are fairly interchangeable though. Can you please elaborate on this? @TheVisionary

I’m not sure yet. I am waiting for Cal to release tge decisions before I make any decisions of my own

Where are my Pre Global Studies majors? I saw like 2 of them…
So I got accepted, even though i didn’t have the mandatory 6 prerequisites. At least that’s the way I see it. And I read that you have to finish all of them by the first semester and then apply to the major by the end of fall semester. From November 15. I’m going to have to figure out which classes I need to do.
When it says through the 4th quarter of a language on assist, what does that mean? Because it also says the 6th quarter will have to be taken at UCLA.
I’m just worried I won’t be able to take like 4-6 classes the first semester haha, but then again they probably wouldn’t have accepted me if that’s the case.

I have the following completed:
Stats 10

2 semesters of transferable beginners Russian classes
1 semester of transferable Spanish class
(Not familiar with the quarter system)

Sociol 1

Econ 2 principles of macroeconomics
I got an A in all of them except for this class, which I got a C.

Accepted (for now)

Major: Philosophy
Pre-req: 4/4 by end of spring***
Major GPA: 4.0
Overall GPA: 3.90
IGETC: Completed last fall
TAP: No

***I may very well be rescinded, hence my hesitation in posting. I dropped one major pre-req, resulting in a W. This will leave me with 3/4 pre-reqs completed. Hopefully UCLA will get back to me this week! That would go a long ways toward alleviating my uncertainty and anxiety! Regardless, I’m thankful to be accepted preliminarily. Wish me luck.

Ugh, woke up with a horrendous hangover. So worth it.

I hope everything works out, @Cheolf

Major:Biz/Eco

@goldencub I LOVE IT SO MUCH

@Mont2LA I transferred last year, and i’m in the transfer-community housing, and I really, really like it. It has some cons (dorms are loud), but everyone has been pretty supportive and complains less than transfer students in other locations (except maybe the apartments).

@luckie1367

How’s the situation with transfer housing after our first year of guaranteed housing is up?

I don’t usually drink to the point of intoxication, but my mom’s boyfriend bought a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate and I had to oblige. Woke up with a slight headache, but I would have to say that it was totally worth it; congrats to all admitted!

@Cheolf You have a solid GPA though. I am also missing one prep and I got into UCLA. There is a great change that they still accept you. Wish you the best.

Who else can’t see their financial aid award? Mine says it isn’t available yet but I got mine from UCSB so I know it isn’t an issue with FASFA!
