@Happy2Help I meant would it be a bad choice to enroll in a class prior to talking to a counselor at orientation
@GirlPower1 If the course you want to take is questionable, you might contact the department advisor tomorrow. Since you’re pre-psych, I suggest you PM Luckie1367 and ask her.
Submitting an SIR at another UC campus will not impact your admission anywhere else!
I SIRd at UCSB on March 26th and I still got into UCLA and UCI on Friday!
@omex666 and everyone else, yes official transcripts from every college you attended, even if it was years ago. Also, very important, contact admissions to make sure they received them. One of our former CCers’ here, her daughter got rescinded right before the Fall quarter started because they never received the transcript, even though the CC could prove they sent it!
@Mike2011 Thanks man I appreciate it. Would you mind letting me know your “stats” so I could possibly see if I stack up?
@omex666 I sent my CC transcript as an E transcipt and it was accepted
@Haikuuze I was at the earliest one, which I think was in July. Edit: July 13th to be exact, but they run all the way into September. From my understanding, for L&S students orientation is not mandatory, but you may have difficulty enrolling in the classes you want.
@Pugzandhugz it will be on your DARS once you send in your transcripts. It might take till mid summer though
@GirlPower1 I enrolled in 100A over the summer (which I highly recommend) before I attended orientation. I just chose an orientation date that didn’t conflict with my classes, and I had no problems.
@Happy2Help Thank you!
@luckie1367 Perfect! That’s the class I enrolled for! Thank you as well
@itstheMATHlife You can’t. Doesn’t matter that you transferred after a year. A transfer is a transfer to HSSEAS.
@Happy2Help @luckie1367 thank you!!

I guess UCLA probably rejects me because I am international + OOS. I was accepted two years ago as a freshman but my admission was rescinded because of grades fall. Can that also be a reason why UCLA rejects my transfer application? Or maybe they just hate my essays…
For everyone asking about SIR:
You may accept admission to one campus only. You may not transfer your acceptance from one campus to another after you declare your intent to register. A $100 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your acceptance.
@luckie1367 Hey when should I apply to housing to get best pick? id like to stay in the transfer dorms
One thing to note is you can SIR to one school and then withdraw the SIR should you change your mind. You will lose the $100 deposit, but you will be free to SIR to another institution.
@luckie1367
Hi, first of all, thank you for all of the great information you have provided us with.
I was wondering if you could maybe tell me a little bit more about the summer sessions. Would you consider the classes to be substantially more difficult or were they about the same as you regular quarter classes? Also, I saw that you applied for summer aid, how does that work? Did you have to take out loans for the summer?
@luckie1367 When you applied initially did you check ‘yes’ about IGETC certification?
I think I checked Yes- but I thought it was asking if I was going to be certified by the time of transfer.
Do you know if I have to get certified at all schools I went to, or just my current CC that already has all of my previous transcripts?
Unfortunately, it’s because you neglected one of the requirements for the economics major.
“ALL preparatory courses must be completed by the spring term just prior to transfer. All courses must be taken for a letter grade. The calculus course requirements should be met AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.”
By that alone you were an ineligible applicant. Sorry to hear that but they aren’t kidding around with these requirements.
@falltransfer1 Actually Im an econ transfer and I am finishing Calc II this semester. I was accepted. That assumption isn’t correct.
@Charphilo I think if you apply any time before the deadline you should be okay. On the app you designate the theme community you want, then 12 preferences after that. There is not much picking unfortunately, you are just assigned what you are assigned.
@empad7 I did check yes for IGETC because I had completed IGETC at the time of application. I believe you get IGETC certified at your current school, but since I only went to one CC I’m not super familiar with it.
A note about IGETC for all: DO NOT assume it gets sent as part of your transcripts. There were multiple people on my floor who got stern emails about sending in IGETC certification even after the quarter started. At SMC, IGETC was a separate sheet from a transcript request, so make sure you know the policy of your CC
So does anybody know how to get IGETC sent over with our transcript? And do we send in our transcript outselves or do our CC do it for us?
It not really an assumption since it’s explicitly stated on Assist.org, but fair enough.
They wouldn’t put that there if there wasn’t some significance to it, though
There might be exculpatory reasons some are still accepted while completing calc in the final semester, e.g. very strong personal statements.
It doesn’t help the situation in either case.
