How did you guys get housing offers already? We barely submitted SIRs a week ago
Where do you guys submit CAR?
i am a recently admitted life science major for the fall of 2016. only taking two major prep classes right now, chem and bio. might get C’s in both. For sure getting a C in chem. Am i going to get rescinded since they are both major prep? i am so so so worried.
@UCLAFFF what if i receive 2 c’s both major prep classes?? am i done? rescinded?
I’ve heard of someone who got rescinded for getting 3 c’s in their last semester. since I’m only taking two classes if i get c’s in those will i get rescinded? i tried calling and they were vague and said to just submit changes
@supremedstudent what does your Transfer Admission Contract say? Complete acceptance is conditional, based on meeting the terms of your own admissions contract. Even if you don’t meet it to the letter, it is still possible that your admission is still accepted.
@jessebobessy contact Housing today and tell them your situation, in particular your age and your past housing accommodations. Your age should have put you in the apartments.
@troubledcollegestudent - Yes, me! All of my information is up to date and I am not sure why it’s still saying it’s not available.
@jessebobessy
Last year there was a guys in his 30s who tried doing the dorm thing. He thought it would be ok, but a couple of months in, he knew it was a bad idea. By winter quarter, he got an off campus apartment. I THINK it was a university apartment but I’m not sure. He just found that the living standard and ways of being for 21 year olds, didn’t match his lifestyle anymore.
@troubledcollegestudent mine says the same thing!! Are you an AB540 student by any chance?
@Happy2Help my contract is really vague. just says to maintain gpa nothing else. i called today and they said its case by case and can’t tell me if ill be rescinded or not but that getting one C in a major prep could get me rescinded or going below a 3.0 gpa this semester. so I’m pretty screwed.
@supremedstudent it is hard to say, so after your final transcripts are in and you’ve reported your grades, they will think about your admission. If you’re TAP certified and had good ECs and PS, they may still want you.
Does anyone know if any of the meal plans include an allowance for food at the on-campus restaurants and cafes, or are they only good for swipes into the dining commons?
Anyone else get the DN Deluxe Triple? The website was kind of vague so I’m not really sure what that means lol.
Is it the transfer experience or something random?
The meal plans do not swipe for food on campus. They’re only for the dining halls or cafes on the hill.
If you are in De Neve Deluxe then it’s Gardenia or Holly and likely to be the transfer experience.
@justamuggle Hey! I’m De Neve Triple too! I dunno whether I’m in Transfer Experience or not tho
Here’s a good source about housing options:
http://ask.housing.ucla.edu/app/answers/detail/a_id/1643/kw/slc/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ2NTQ1NzgwMy9zaWQvNjZUenRCU20%3D
If you are in De Neve Deluxe, it is likely to be the transfer experience.
If you are in De Neve Plaza, you are not, but may be grouped with transfers on the same floor.
Hey guys,
So the orientation is like $160 for transfer students. And i asked my friends who attended last year, they told me it’s not worth it.
Do u think I should attend ? If not how can I apply for classes?
I would attend if I were in the US rn, but I’m not. So I would have to travel back to la earlier just for it.
Thankss
@Happy2Help Quick question about housing payments, if I will be using loans to pay for housing/tuition, do I select Monthly or Quarterly or do I select financial aid, are loans considered aid in that sense? For loans do they send it to the school directly or will I be getting a check quarterly? sorry if any of these questions are completely obvious, I’m the first child in my family to go to school in the US
@lilahkaya my daughter felt the transfer orientation was well worth the time. I think you will have to arrange to meet an advisor when you do move here, to sign up for classes. You may not get the classes you want as they may be filled.
@GirlPower1 it sounds like you are OOS and taking personal loans so you should pick monthly/quarterly etc. and these personal loans are not considered financial aid. You are responsible for your loans, they will not be sent to the school.
