@AndyCandy are you talking about University owned apartments? If you want to change it check out this link and scroll down to where it says “Change of assignment request (CAR)” remember to accept your initial offer, and if you do get it (like someone said up there^^) you will get credited or charged
I sent my official transcripts on June 13 and it still has the preliminary status, it doesn’t have the received check box, does everyone already have theirs marked as received? I’m worried because the deadline is July 1st and do not know if they will revoke my admission status (happened to some friends of mine but with UCSC)
@luxodom Thanks.
Does anyone know when the immunization records are due?
Any psych premeds? I have a few questions, and I’d like to know your stats when you were accepted
Overall gpa 3.75, major 3.6. Tap will be done by fall or spring
I haven’t started my personal statements yet, but I think my first one will be pretty strong because I’ve dealt with a lot of psychological problems in the past due to an abusive father, which is where my passion for psych comes from. My mother also had brain surgery a few years back and I’ve shadowed the surgeon a few times, which is where my interest in medicine came from. As for my second essay, I have an odd hobby that I’ve been with for close to 10 years, I’ve worked extremely hard at it and have been extremely dedicated, ultimately leading to a world championship title. I’m hoping these essays will display my passion for my major/dream career, as well as my dedication and hard work to what im passionate about
I will be starting my 3rd year this fall and I will also be applying. I decided I wanted to go the pre med route during the summer of my second year, when I began to shadow in the neurosurgery department at a local hospital/clinic. Since intro bio and chem are major prep for psych transfers, I decided to do general bio and chem for stem majors. W the first time I took chem 1 (working too many hours, bad scheduling, skipped pre req, overall just wasn’t prepared for the class) came back next semester and got an A, unfortunately got a B in bio 1. I will be finishing both series ( 1 more chem class and 2 more bio classes ) as well as calculus by the end of next summer.
My main question is, how will taking stem classes as a non-stem major look? Will it look weird and negatively affect my chances? Will the B in bio kill my chances at UCLA and med school? Everyone in my class was panicking and saying things like “oh I can’t get a B, my gpa will be below 3.8 UCLA won’t want me” and “Doctors can’t get Bs in bio”.
Also, does UCLA focus more on major gpa, or overall? I feel like my overall gpa is pretty competitive, major gpa not so much. I know what I did wrong in bio, and im hoping to fix it so I can get As in the rest of the series.
Im also a bit confused on what exactly “major gpa” is - is it all the classes related to psych I’ve taken (research methods, biological psych, developmental psych) or just the classes listed on assist.org?
Thanks everyone
@themightybicycle I saw people say to just get it in before your orientation date, if you don’t you’ll have a hold on your account. Takes a few days for someone to verify your immunizations too
- Register for orientation (x)
- Submit a photo for my Bruin Card (x)
- Send offical transcripts (x)
- Pay first installment for Housing (x)
- Submit CAR hoping for university owned apartment (x)
- Submit immunization records ( ) Am I missing anything else ???
Check Luckie’s tracking sheet.

@dinosaur33 please start your own thread and read through other threads plus the premed forum.
Hi guys! Where do we submit our immunization records?
Everything you need to know and where to submit immunization records…
Perfect. Thanks @Happy2Help!
so i just tried reading through all of these threads… is this not the thread for students who applied for transfer during fall 2015, to start 2016, and were waitlisted? that is what i did and I still have not heard back but when i check online it says not all decisions have been made, and adjust curious is anyone else has… thank you!
How much do you guys think UCLA weighs improvement in grade trends?
@winkayy no. Check the other threads. Applicants are still waiting to hear back. Could be this week to mid-July.
@badmintongirl I have noticed that UCLA weighs more on PS. Improvement in grades doesn’t seem to be a definitive deciding factor.
Hey guys, so my residence status was determined as CA resident but my FAFSA hasn’t been adjusted yet. I called both financial aid office and residence office, none of them were helpful whatsoever. Financial aid office said registrar sends them documents if needed, but registrar’s residence office said they do no such thing! I’m so confused, how am I supposed to get my financial aid adjusted if those offices aren’t even aware of one another? Has anyone had this issue before? Please let me know, idk what to do.
I just recently submitted a summer financial aid application, and it says that my aid won’t be awarded unless i change my Degree Candidacy. MyUCLA tells me I can’t change it “at this time”, so I’m out of luck, right? I think if I wait until orientation to sort it out, all the class openings will be taken.
Can somebody remind me how to check if our IGETC certification is received on MyUCLA please?
@boxlover one way – you must wait until very close to your orientation date, when you could generate a PDF of your Degree Audit Report. Look around page 2 or 3 under the section “General Education Exemption Status”. If they’ve received your certification, it’ll say you’re exempt because you completed IGETC.
Take unofficial copies of all your transcripts to orientation, just in case you need them.
Anyone else go to a cc thats on the quarter system? It says everywhere that transcripts are due July 1st but on that one email in a small subnote, it says that transcripts are due July 15th for quarter system ccs. I haven’t even gotten my spring grades yet, but I can’t stop worrying about the July 1st due date. Can I get some confirmation about the extended deadline for transcripts for quarter system students?
@nopiollaga Yeah, the email said that as long as your grades arrive before the 15th its fine. I wouldn’t worry about it too much especially since UCLA told us its okay. I know that some UCs never told their students if they are extending the deadline for quarter students which really sucks.
