I can’t agree, since Housing actually helped my daughter both years! There’s nothing you can do but wait.
UCLA is by no means perfect, but I don’t want you to start off thinking the offices are horrible or poorly run. That’s not the case across the board. You have to also realize that often when you call offices, you may be talking to student workers, who don’t really have the information, and they are often telling you what they may have heard someone say. They don’t want to tell you “I don’t know”, and they want to be helpful. Giving mis-information is rarely helpful, but don’t take that to mean that empolyees don’t care.
While it is frustrating as hell not to get this much needed housing info, all you can really do is wait. Regardless of how many times people call and ask, the decisions will be released when they’re released. Also keep in mind that while new transfers are often unhappy with their rooming assignments, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of seniors who weren’t guaranteed housing who are currently looking for something affordable off campus. They would take your undesirable housing offer in a minute.
So in the spirit of Bruin Love and Unity, let’s try not bashing UCLA employees. These are the people who make our campus what it is. Students may be the heart of the school, but the employees are the doctors and surgeons who keep it working properly.
Yeah, you guys are right. It’s just extremely frustrating!
Did anyone else apply to be a move in assistant? My sister said it as a good way to meet new people, and you get to move in a couple days early so that’s cool.
Hi all, here is an email housing just sent out!
“We are writing to provide an update regarding your Change of Assignment Request (CAR). As of today, we have only been able to approve a very small number of CARs. To date, we have not received enough contract cancellations from students who are guaranteed housing to gain the availability to issue you a change of assignment. We are going to continue to review all open CARs through Monday, August 15, and while we do anticipate approving more of them, unfortunately, most CARs are unlikely to be approved. We will update you regarding the status of your CAR by Monday, August 15. If your CAR cannot be approved, you will retain your current assignment.”

Does anyone still not have their IGETC verified no their DARS yet? I’ve sent in two transcripts, the first one being sent a month ago, and it’s still reading as incomplete on my DARS.
@xenoplanet Send them an email via the message center (you can select DARS from the drop-down menu). They will probably get back to you relatively quickly. I inquired about a couple of classes that were still shown as “in progress” in DARS. The very next day they said it would be resolved by the start of the next week. In reality, it was solved that very same day.
Does anyone know when we find out about roommates and what time our move in slot is? I’m flying there and the sooner I buy tickets the less expensive they are. The move in website has last years dates saying they announced on Aug 27th, 2015. Will it be around the same this year? Thanks guys!

@UCLAFFF Yeah, I had it on July 18th. I used the UCLA Message Center to send them an email and they told me that they could confirm that they have my IGETC transcript, but they don’t think it would be updated until early September.
@ireallyhatewaiting UCLA recently (ie. today, August 12, 2016) updated the housing portal with dates for the posting of room assignments, etc.

@xenoplanet I believe UCLA has already charged the accounts of people who had orientation in July (I checked my BruinBill and it already has a payment needed under “Registration Fees & Campus Charges”. The payment is due by September 20, 2016.
