FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

We will know our roommates by the end of August right?..

@Sumner Yes, according to UCLA Housing’s twitter (from today, August 29, 2016!!) we will find out on Wednesday (August 31)…

I have included a few quotes from UCLA Housing’s twitter below.

[quote]

August 22: You will hear back by Aug 31st! Sorry for the delay, we received a lot of requests this year. Don’t worry
August 29: Sorry for the delay! You will know roommates and room numbers by Wednesday!

“Sorry for the delay”
This seems to be UCLA’s de facto motto.

Housing info is up.

Does anyone know how to tell what building you’re in? I got a deluxe triple in DN and my room assignment says “DN-G-G###”. Does the G mean I’m in Gardenia? That’s what I assumed, but got a little concerned because on my move-in time appointment it says “Building - De Neve Residence Hall” and then the previously quoted part again under “room/apartment.”

I’m looking at all of this quarter’s expenses on my BruinBill and see that UCSHIP costs me $716 a quarter but I only get $382 for my UCSHIP grant. I’m starting to think it’s not worth it if I still have to pay $334 out of pocket.

Any advice?

@foreverwmt Yes, the G means you are in gardenia (H would be Holly). I believe the first # indicates the floor number and the three #s together indicate the room number.

The Middle Class Scholarship notifications have been sent out and awarded - nice surprise to wake up to this morning!

@Edirol Where can you find the notifications?

Hello, on my bruinbill my balance shows a negative number. Can anyone please explain what that means? Do I owe that much money? Thank you

@dkarbcs That balance represents the money that will be disbursed to you/ Take that amount and divide it by three, that is how much you will receive per quarter. Keep in mind if you have housing, some of those funds given to you by financial aid will be need to pay for your rent/installment fees. Either way, you should have so money left over, depending on if you took out loans or not.

@UCLAFFF So does that mean my fall registration fee has been covered? and I just need to pay my housing fee this quarter?

@dkarbcs Yes, it should have been. That net number (the negative number you see on your account) is a result of everything being covered, and you happen to have funds left over.

Hi everyone, I just got another financial aid offer. Does this mean that I have to do all that loan paperwork again after I accept the loans?

Does anybody know how the UC Ship work? I am in need of a new eye exam and glasses. Can I use the UC Ship insurance when I move in for my eye exam?

When does school start? 19th or 22nd? -_- someone said we have to be there on the 19th bc its “week 0” … whatever that means man

@Smj8542 The official first day of classes is the 22nd. However, the period of time starting from the 18th/19th to the 21st includes some events which make up “Zero Week”. One specific event which I have heard about is the “Enormous Activities Fair”. There is a complete list of events here: http://www.truebruinwelcome.ucla.edu/

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if volunteer day is mandatory? I have an “action required” notification on my UCLA to sign the volunteer day waiver.

@UCLAhopeful922 it’s not mandatory.

Can someone shed some light on the volunteer day? Are most people planning on going?
