I tried to convince friends to head over to Sierra, but only a few listened. Attending a CC wasn’t really an option for me given the fact that my parents loved Fullerton and they are shouldering the burden, but I definitely would have enrolled at Sierra otherwise.
Is anyone else applying as an OOS student from another university?
@marchon Me! Well, technically. I moved to California last August and have been completing UCLA requirements at the local CC since I moved here.
@incogneato Sounds similar to my situation. I definitely don’t miss paying OOS tuition prices.
I just applied to UCLA and was wondering what you guys thought my chances would be?
SAT:1960/2400
GPA: 4.0
Rank: 2/135
EC’s: school clubs from mock trial to masterminds, heavily involved in the band, tennis, soccer.
Community Service: Over 200 hours with my local church
Other: I do own my own non profit that raises money for Alzheimers reseacrch, I also wrote one of my essays on that.
Would appreciate feedback onto what you guys think, also I applied for political science and computer science and had two internships in high school in those career fields
By the way I am oos
@Edirol They’re horrible! I’m trying my hardest to petition for residency if I get into UCLA. We got here in August and I switched everything over straight away. I’ll be an official resident as of August, before classes start. Did you transfer to UCLA?
@Koda279 Are you a transfer student? Also, which major are you applying to?
@incogneato I know this is a transfer student feed but I am just a senior in high school. And I applied for political science
@incogneato - I’m hoping to transfer this fall. I moved here a few years back and the first year at my CC was so expensive. I can’t believe there are international students who pay those prices for more than a year!
Do International CCC students have a limit to how many units they can take per semester? I remember talking to a classmate from China and I remember asking her how many classes she’s going to be taking next semester and I vaguely remember her saying something like she can’t take more than a certain amount because she’s an international student? This seems so crazy to me, especially with how much money she has to pay. Kinda lame
@Koda279 Your chances at UCLA as a transfer are zero, given that you’re still in high school. Lol.
Post “chance me” comments on relevant threads. Don’t be lame.
Damnn, though. This wait is killing me. When our grandchildren (and maybe even our children) apply to college, admissions decisions will probably come out like the next day. Could you imagine? Algorithms and programs that actually read through our personal statements, GPAs, ECs, etc. and with little human oversight, our admissions decisions out the next day?
Wouldn’t be surprised if UCLA would help in making that kind of technology.
Has anyone received an email asking for their recent transcript? I just received an email this afternoon that said:
"We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an
admission decision, we need the following information from you:
Please reply and attach a copy of your [CC] recent transcript."
???
@sevensparrows I haven’t, but I hope it’s a good sign
Transferred here last fall. I remember this wait. It doesn’t get any easier guys. Especially that last week before admission decisions came out. 1 hour literally felt like 1 day. Have fun!
Expect decisions to come out on April 15th or 22nd.
@sevensparrows Have you checked the UCLA Application portal? Does it say that your application is under review?
This wait is really, really starting to get to me!
@Koda279 Honestly, this is the wrong forum to ask about this on. As a transfer student from a CC, you’d be great, but as far as freshman admission goes, that’s not something that many of us are familiar with. You’d be better off on another forum. Good luck!
2 more months… considering I’ve already read the hundreds of pages of the decisions for the last couple years, I have no clue what to do with myself while I wait lol. Time to get a hobby. Any suggestions? ;p
@Koda279 Id say your SAT is a little on the low side. Is that a 4.0 unweighted gpa? Good for you. You seem to be a very well balanced applicant. #EveryoneIsWelcomeHere
@sugarbabies3 Come home from school. Log into your application portals. Weep. Repeat the next day.
