@diuneilomo wow your username lol let’s keep it a secret assuming ur from Hong Kong
@Sumner @diuneilomo LOL omg I didn’t even notice until you pointed that out xD
@mmmwww @Sumner : @Hector1201 Already noticed this afternoon. We have been chatting since then
Isnt that freaking obvious?
@Hector1201 I was born there but grew up in Cali (:
Does anyone know if UCLA admit by majors or colleges? I’m asking because if they admit by major then i have about 40% to get in, but if its college, then it is as low as 18%, looking at last year’s statistics.
@diuneilomo I had always assumed by major, but that’s a good question. I guess all the talk of impacted majors made me think so.
@Oldhopeful is Neuroscience an impacted major in UCSD, UCD, UCB, or UCLA?
@diuneilomo I’m not really sure, but assist.org has it listed as a highly selective major. That makes me think it might be.
@diuneilomo yes neuro is impacted unfortunately. It is a part of the life science department which are all impacted majors. If you check the profile of admitted transfer students it has an asterisk next to all impacted majors and neuro is one of them.
@diuneilomo 17-18 percent is for freshman from high school. CA community colleges is like 21-24 percent. And yes, out of state hinders your chances, because CCC’s get first pick for transfers… But, sometimes they will allow more out of state and international people if they need more money, so it kind of balances out. But at the same time, it’s a record high of applicants, but most of them are freshmen from high school. So it all balances out really.
Guys this is the link to view each major’s acceptance rate + how many applied / got in / instate vs. out of state, etc. This is last year’s Fall 2015, you can go back to other years as well.

PSA - to those who got the Regents invite. ~600 people are invited of a pool of over 20,000 applicants. Of those invited to apply, about 100 students receive the scholarship - so 1/6 chance of being awarded the scholarship. Surprised at how good those odds are, honestly.
Should we make a UCLA Regents thread? Or would that be pointless?
@goldencub You should make a thread. I think it would prove to be a valuable resource for future applicants.
there was a leadership award scholarship invitation email before sent to some of you for UCB before. Did anyone received that? What does that mean if you receive it?
@goldencub From my understanding it’s 100 students of the total number invited to apply. So this would be 100 out of 600 transfer students + 1.5% of the top freshman class.
@calivalleyyy You’re correct. I misread the wording on their website.
Should have expected it to be more difficult than that :))
