FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@solostish, I’m transferring from a CC. I got the Regents Invite from UCLA. I have 5 years work experience as a TA at my childhood Elementary school working 30hrs/week. I also volunteer at a Chinese Christian Church and occasionally at the LA Regional Food Bank. So maybe my Volunteer and Work Experience has helped me become a candidate. I truly wasn’t expecting this honorable invite, but it would be such a humbling award. I only make 13,000/year and I live independently (no financial support from my parents whatsoever) so it would be such a blessing to be awarded the Regents scholarship.

had so many dreams about admission decisions last night. Getting there haha

Can someone help me by answering this question? I applied to UCLA school of nursing as my preference major, my back up was biological sciences.

My question is as follows: I will have all UC required transfer courses done by Spring 2016, but I will be missing the year of calculus required for the nursing major/biological sciences. All other prerequisites are completed. Will this automatically disqualify me? from both?

Also, if accepted, I found an accredited (through WASC) online college calculus course that has a self paced option. I firmly believe over the summer I could take Calculus-1 and Calculus-2 (the adviser of the courses said its been done and its possible). Considering GPA does not transfer when accepted I feel it would be completely possible to get at least two B’s.

Here are my stats: GPA at application: 3.67 EC’s: 4 years full time as a paramedic through school, Essay: 8-9/10

To be considered for admission the following pattern of core courses must be completed by the spring before transfer:

-one year of biology with lab for the major
-one year of calculus
-one year of general chemistry with lab for the major
-one semester in organic chemistry with lab

This is verbatim taken from UCLA transfer preparation

@RichardEmt34 Hey Richard! I believe we spoke before on all nurses. Actually the course requirements are one year of general biology, one year chemistry, one semester organic chemistry, human anatomy with lab, and human physiology. However general microbiology, psychology, intro to communication, and one course of calculus for life science or with analytic geometry are strongly recommended, not required. I hope this helps!

Only one day, everybody!

What are you guys going to do tomorrow when checking the portal? My plan was to ask my friend to film me while I’m checking it but i’m going to be at work. Will probably go for a “bathroom break” and check it from my phone

Just logged on to the portal; don’t know why I was so disappointed to still see there hasn’t been anything posted, I was kind of hoping there would be a glitch and admissions would have been released lol

nervouswreck

Half of the people are saying it will be updated tomorrow and the other half say it will be the 29th. . . Do we know for sure when the decisions will be released?!

Nobody ever knows  but 99% that it will be tomorrow

In the last few years there’s always been some sort of official confirmation on the day of admissions. So look out for that tomorrow morning/afternoon!

@POTUS2040 They do release in waves I believe starting May 1. My application was complete Jan 19 which is why I may have heard back earlier. I would def not consider it bad news if you haven’t heard anything because it’s still earlier than the date they are officially releasing decisions according to the site. I was lurking last years forum and some people didn’t hear back until mid-late may and still got admitted. Keep your head up! Are you applying as a transfer , GS, or Columbia college?

This stress is killing me! Oh, and we lost Prince? This week demands a xanax.

The 22nd is just based on the assumption that UCLA will follow the same pattern it has in the past couple of years by releasing one week earlier than the deadline stated on their website. That being said, they will most likely release it in waves starting from the 22nd until the final day on the 30th (30th will most likely be rejections). So not everyone is necessarily going to be accepted tomorrow, if you don’t want to stress yourself out then just check in a week. The results aren’t going to change lol.

@serene96 Is it in waves? I was hoping for a mass release of everybody’s decisions.

shrugs we’ll see tomorrow.

@Oldhopeful it will definitely be in waves. Especially for applicants like me who have overseas units. They literally wait till the last minute to inform be because there is a whole bunch of paperwork that goes along with admitting someone like me. UCR started releasing in the first week of March, I got admitted 2 days ago

I also had to give them my transcripts and course descriptions with official stamps and signatures and stuff. It was quite the hassle

I don’t think UCLA does it in waves. I applied to UCLA last year also and when the clock turned 5PM , they released all decisions.

I know back in 2014 the portal was down from 5pm till 5.30pm, did that happen last year too?
