FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

out of curiosity, do you guys think that universities check this site just to see and laugh at us. lol i know they’re probably not as devious as i imagine, but if that’s the case, i would hope that they somehow took account of how much we care about getting into their school and being on top of our shiz trying to be the best possible candidates. because i know, if you’re on this site you care and you deserve to go to a great school like UCLA

GPA: 4.0
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Prereqs: Complete
IGETC - 7 step courses
TAG: Didn’t apply.
Essays: 7/10(I didn’t check grammar… tons of errors…)
EC: Working two years at the manual job, a member of PTK, two years of service in the army.

I’m an international student.

I worked really hard to get in top tier school like UCLA and I’m really nervous now.

I couldn’t sleep well from March.

I hope everybody in here will get good news.

chance me please guys. I’m so stressed out from this decision tomorrow and UCLA is my dream school. Parents and brother went here. I need to be a Bruin!!

GPA: 3.69
Major: Basket weaving
Prereqs: Missing 3 but will have all of them completed by Summer
IGETC: I’m not sure what this means, I have mostly A’s and B’s on my transcript
Current School: Cornell
Essays: I wrote about my love for basket weaving and how I plan to introduce this hobby to developing countries like U.S., Germany, Canada, and China.
EC: Gold Medalist in Beijing Olympics, Nobel Laureate for research in non electric conducive basket weaving material, political consultant for berneh sandas, also I’m a park ranger in Africa to defend against the poachers trying to harvest endangered plants to sell for basket weaving materials.

honestly i’d be shocked if you got in with those stats. basket weaving is super competitive and your GPA is too low.

^ not only that… but I highly doubt ucla would allow you to finish up your 3 missing prereqs in the summer.

better luck next time!

Did anyone apply as a Spanish major?

some people are saying “hopefully UCSD gets out tomorrow as well”, I got my decision around 3 weeks ago from UCSD!

If you guys are the people I’m “hopefully” transferring with to UCLA then UCLA just got so much better :stuck_out_tongue: you guys are hilarious hahahah :))

To everyone here, good luck tomorrow!

@SevenBlue7 Did you get regents? And what major? Sorry, the timing just seems peculiar

UCLA has become my number one choice, but there’s a good chance they’ll rescind me should I be accepted. Therefore I’m not really excited for tomorrow - just anxious. My “decision date” will likely be next week or the week after (they’ll need to review my course update).

However, I am excited for everyone else!

@SevenBlue7

We are in the same boat. I’ve known about my UCSD acceptance and Regents Scholarship since early March.

The only thing it has done is tease me, because UCLA is still my dream.

@Cheolf Wait, if we did a course update months ago through an email (I put the wrong number for a class, 102 instead of 101) do you think by default it will take longer to go through?

@Cheolf what course did you drop? I withdrew from a major course this semester, but I already finished my IGETC and prereqs in Fall 2015. I got into UCSB and told them after I was accepted and they didn’t care, same with Irvine. I doubt UCLA will either

I made a mistake on my UC application, and wrote it in the additional comments section in the TAU in march. dont know if thats gonna affect my admissions either

Decisions come out tomorrow. I’m so nervous. Someone chance me!

GPA: 9.11
Major: America
Prereqs: Freedom
IGETC: Second Amendment Rights
Essays: 9/11
EC: Protector of the Red, White, and Blue.

@dkarbcs I did a similar thing but I think pretty minor, since the class was interchangeable. I figure as long as it doesn’t look like you tried to pull a fast one on them, they figure there are bound to be a few mistakes in the tedious process of transferring grades over.

@copenhagenlc You should be fine in that case. You may just want to ask them if they saw it or not. You definitely gave them ample time to review it.

@hdoan24 Symbolic Logic. It’s a major pre-req (ouch) for the philosophy major. Me dropping it leaves me with 3/4 pre-reqs completed. I completed IGETC in the Fall, and I’ll have 67 semester units completed by the end of this semester. 3.90 GPA

UCI already said they don’t care, but technically it wasn’t a pre-req for them (though it’s eventually required for those who will be majoring in philosophy). And UCLA=/=UCI

@copenhagenlc I feel like im going to blame that mistake if i get rejected. Cuz I have a pretty good GPA

@grimmghost not really, I keep hearing about it and I’m surprised I haven’t gotten regents given that I have a 4.0 and a pretty solid application… Have you?
