Hey I checked my portal aswell before it went down and my major changed. However it’s not my alternate major that I declared on my UC app. Could they have made a mistake? I’m also a tap student
Honestly i am getting really nervous because i feel like i wont get in.
I’m going to go clean for a couple hours…
@nidalee But isn’t the portal down? How were you able to check just now?
I checked it before it went down.
Now I’m worried because I didn’t check my major before it went down
It is today. Guys. It is today. Get ready to use your trashcans and and throw up like @luckie1367 did last year
alright for you comm majors out there here is what the ucla source said verbatim to my cousin from screenshots
(FYI cousin works at Berkeley and her friend works at UCLA):
From my knowledge its possible to change your major as a transfer later. I think her stay at UCLA would be an extra year because she might have to stay in her alternative major for a bit. Communications is hard to get into. They only take about 50 students every year. so she would have to apply and wait for the acceptance as a student at ucla. Anthropology (for those of you who listed this as their alternative) is not that far from comm. its just a different aspect. it truly is what you do at the institution that will get to your personal career goal.
@Sanla124 I’ve been trying to take a nap for about an hour now. It’s not working
@StatetoUCHopeful i know!! thats why i’m freaking out. Everyone’s like yeah you’ll get in easily, but just like you said everyone else has a great application too so nothing is for sure.
hahah I was reading last year threads yesterday and yeah a lot of throwing up was going on
Welcome to the chaos!
@tedopotato12 only 50? the website says they take an average of 100 every year
4 more hours people!!!
Con’t: a majority of the slots are given to non-transfers. and the slots for transfers from the initial application are pretty small. the suggestions from my coworkers are for her to talk to the communications department to understand the options. but if she chooses to go for alternative major at ucla take comm classes as “filler” classes.
@sevenblue7 this is what i got from the source …just trying to put out useful info
oh my god my major wasn’t changed…im screwed
