Been stalking too! Applied to Penn, among a few others. Excited to see some good news, for some of us at least, on Tuesday!
I feel like I have 0 chance coming from a community college but ¯_(ツ)_/¯. The wait is killing me slowly.

I’m from a CC too but I’m a traditional student applying as a soph transfer. Are any of you community college transfers non-traditional? I’m worried that they view a state school or higher student applying as a soph transfer as more enticing than a cc transfer

Major: Biochemistry (Arts & Sciences)
Current College:
OTC in Springfield, MO
GPA: 3.86 (I did take some 265 & 295 level classes)
I was in the Chancellor’s list 3 times in a row
Extras: I am in the Honors Program & in Phi Theta Kappa
EC: I work 2 jobs, 1 full time as a bilingual rep at a Bank and 1 part time as a bilingual tax associate at H&R Block.I have worked 45+ hours a week for the past 3 years (until I got the part-time job to go along with my full time job & worked for 65+ hours a week for like 6 months along with volunteering, the reason why my GPA went from a 4.0 to a 3.86)
Volunteer: Local Hospital at ER and Humane Society
Recommendations: 1 from my chem teacher who loves me and who is like a Mom to me, she said I was her top student ever & so many more things that make me blush because she made me sound amazing lol. 1 from our honors director who knows my life story and who also made me uncomfortable in a sweet way from all the amazing things he said about me. Both of them focused a lot on my character it seemed.
Essays: Very honest and very inspiring so I’ve been told. I talked about the song “Defying Gravity” and incorporated the music & the science of sound waves in relation to my own “wavelength” aka life journey to my goals. On the “why” essay I was specific to what I admired of UPenn and how I would fit in.
High School:
GPA: 3.75
I graduated with an honors diploma
EC: NHS, FBLA (Secretary), DECA, Science Club, Foreign Language Club
Volunteer: Convoy of Hope, March of Dimes, Bikers for Babies, volunteered to translate documents from English to Spanish for hispanic parents in our local elementary school & worked with the teachers in doing this.
I won a couple of rewards and made it to state twice with FBLA back in high school.
School didn’t offer AP or IB.
Hooks/Extras: First Generation college student and a Mexican immigrant. I am bilingual (English & Spanish, intermediate in French) and I do have unique background/story. I had to postpone college for 2 years after HS due to several circumstances and I would walk 2 hours straight once a week to my local library (no car) to keep reading/studying because I wanted to keep learning.

Applying from CC too! I’m not too nervous cause I already got accepted to some schools I genuinely want to go, but still, Penn is still my long standing unattainable dream lol

Apparently everyone receives that same letter no matter what. Basically a way to say “no matter what happens, its been a pleasure getting to know you”. Just generalized.
I am a traditional cc
If I get rejected I will hang the letter on my wall in a gold frame because it will be an honor nonetheless
Don’t fret. I was waitlisted by UVA and now I go to Penn, so you never know
