Thank you so much for the info! She has amazing stats I hope it works out for her! @SoCal11
@SoCal11 did they say anything about trustee interviews?
I didn’t ask about interviews since she appears to be off their radar. Mail did come in today, and nothing. We’ll see if something happens via email tonight.
i’m so confused I like got the financial thing in the mail and it said nothing about any scholarships i received or did not receive…it directed me to the MyAid thing but when I went on that there was nothing there either??
@atnite720 sorry to say that probably means you didn’t get anything. My D only got the $2000 early action award since she applied by Nov 1st but that’s it.
My D got an email early this morning that her fin. aid had been posted on my LMU. She got the 25k Presidential that we had already been emailed about, 2k EA award, 3k LMU grant, and 2k work study.
Still no word here. Got the top award at two great universities so I am surprised to get nothing at LMU. Oh, well. Off the table.
Got email early this morning. Still no letter. D got lowest Arrupe $12.5k and EA $2k. Most likely LMU will not be considered. She has better offers at better schools for her.
The award info just posted to our daughter’s My Aid account. Same amount as letter-$3000 achievement, $2000 EA, $2000 work/study, $5500 fed loan. Planning on filing an appeal. Is anyone else?
The NPC estimated $22,350 for LMU grants/scholarships…we ended up at $5000. Is the NPC always this inaccurate? Has anyone else had this experience?!
@katnatmom I was planing on filing an appeal as well, do you know the steps to do so?
Hi @soccer1317! If you go to financial aid, click on ‘Prospective’…you will see ‘Appeals’. You can download the forms there. It is really disappointing…our daughter got substantially more from the other schools she has gotten into (so far). It ranges from a low of $16k to a high of $23k. She is still waiting to hear from the UC’s, but she really likes LMU too. Hoping the appeal works out…good luck to you! Let me know how it works out and I’ll do the same.
Does anyone know the gpa requirement for renewal of the Arrupe scholarship? My S received notification in the financial aid portal. He has not received a letter yet regarding the scholarship. My understanding is that the gpa requirement for renewal is in the letter sent to recipients.
Hi @midwest98! Just checked the LMU website and for the Arrupe scholarship, the minimum gpa for renewal is 3.0–that is the minimum for all of their merit scholarships. Congratulations to your son on the Arrupe!
@katnatmom Thank you!
still haven’t heard but the admissions office said to contact them if i don’t hear by mid next week! hoping for the $25k arrupe! 32 act, 4.3 gpa. am i dreamin??
I’m really disappointed with my merit scholarship: 12500 arrupe and 2000 EA. This is the lowest I’ve got for all my colleges. I have a 1500 new SAT and 4.1 uw gpa. crossing lmu off my list but its ok since it wasn’t my top choice anyway.
LMU’s award seem to skew low compared to similar schools. My D’s awards at other schools have ranged from $10K to $34K, but LMU offered just the EA $2K award. At least two of those schools rank higher than LMU. Anyone have any insights into why LMU’s award profile is so miserly?
@suburbancat are any of those other schools Jesuit as well? Maybe the Catholic schools don’t have as much money to give. Fordham is also pretty stingy from what I understand. My D’s best friend got 10K from Marist with a 30 ACT which I would have been happy to get from LMU but sadly we got the same as you…
@marg928 - I don’t think that’s the explanatory factor here. She got $21K at Loyola Chicago, also $17K at Trinity in Texas, which has a higher regional rank. It looks on this board like LMU is just not generous with those in the middle of the applicant pool. It’s also possible that the pool is more affluent and LMU thinks they will matriculate without aid as well. DK. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to look elsewhere.
