If I haven’t gotten an admission decision at this point, should I expect the worst? Sorry to make this my first post, but I’ve been following this thread for a few days now and, since the date that GS Admissions told me I would have a decision (Monday, July 17th) has now passed, I’m feeling a bit discouraged.

Any thoughts on this one way or the other would be appreciated, and would give me some peace of mind.

Thanks,

Sam

@samcmac I have not received a decision yet either but hey, i guess one way or another we will find out by tomorrow

I think we are too late to apply for Uni housing…anyone is looking for a roommate lol…find a place in nyc is scary

whats you guys’ housing status right now?

It’s not too late. Get your deposit in. They make selections between the beginning and mid July. Check out the timeline https://gs.columbia.edu/housing. It’s a rolling basis so get those applications in.

Hi everyone, I’m Xavier Medina,  a current student at GS and a GS Tour Guide. I know waiting on decisions and managing certain deadlines can be tough. I saw this thread and I just wanted to address Housing Deposits. It is best to first make sure you have filled out your financial aid forms – and met with educational financing – before submitting your deposit and requesting housing. Submitting a deposit for housing (which you may not get) and not meeting with a financial advisor to make sure all your finances are covered is not a good idea. If you’re wondering about setting up an appointment with financial aid, please call the office at 212-854-2772 and describe your situation. Best of luck guys!

Hi all, I was accepted about 2 months ago and since then it’s been a shitshow trying to get everything in place to be properly registered for the right classes. Some advice: get your MMR vaccine and/or proof of it faxed in IMMEDIATELY. You currently have a hold and can’t register for anything. PROTIP: call them and tell them you faxed it in 3 weeks prior, they will look for it and not find it then ask you to fax it in right then and there while they wait for it to be printed off on their end and you should have the hold taken off by the end of the day. Sign up immediately for an academic planning session, there are very few days they offer them, even less for the remote ones. You have to do the APS before they submit your name to your advisor. Before you meet your advisor you should have a schedule of classes you need to take the next few years (this is VERY time-consuming and requires rigorous research in combining times, core classes, and major+minor requirements, not to mention many classes are already full- and probably all the good ones). Good Columbia web pages to know: SSOL, Vergil, Finaid.studentviewer.
