I know it’s a bit early for a thread but better sooner than later.
Tell us where you are in preparation and what problems or questions you have. Hopefully we can all start supporting each other now so there’s no snags later this Fall when we start applying for next year. Good luck!

I’m gonna apply to every UC anyways, worth droppin a couple hundred bucks just to see where I end up.

@kneesbees By second choice, do you mean an alternate major as a result of your TAP certification? Pre-Sociology is an impacted major, and I’m fairly certain that you are not allowed to put an impacted major as your alternate.
CCC
Overall GPA: 3.9, 60+ units completed
Major: Economics

EC’s/work: 5 years of full-time work experience at a Fortune 500 corporation. Also attempted starting my own business, which was profitable, but not profitable enough to earn a nice living from.

I just need to finish Calc II in order to qualify.
Can anyone chance me? My number 1 is USC, but I decided to load up extra courses and go with the UC TAG route, just in case I get denied from USC. Anyways, applying to UCLA for Fall 2016 Business/Econ, I honestly project a 3.6 – 3.7. I have a 3.85 right now, but I’m benefiting the doubt that I’ll get a B or 2. Regardless, I will have all UCLA pre-requsites completed, and 60 units at the end of spring 2017. Thank you
@Psychiatrist Yeah I actually just looked into the stipulations and I think I’m going to go with anthropology instead, but thanks!
Thanks @justinmega1 for starting this!
I’ll be a CSU>CCC>UC transfer. Didn’t like the Cal State I got into and wanted to completely start over.

Thank you @justinmega1 Your creating this thread prompted me to make an account!
A have a couple questions right off the bat:
- Does UCLA require a high school diploma or GED in order to transfer?
- Where can I find a link to admission statistics for previous years?
Here’s my own little profile for the record:
CCC student ; I study at Los Angeles Pierce College.
Major: Mathematics
GPA: 4.00
43 units completed so far, including linear algebra and the calculus sequence
ECs: I work 15-20 hours per week for my dad, who owns a construction company. I spend most of my time either studying mathematics and philosophy, body building, listening to music or watching “intellectuals” debate on the computer.
I’m afraid to offer any opinions regarding “chances” just yet because I’m not familiar with admissions data; I’m vaguely aware that the UC transfer system is streamlined and as a result it relies mainly on GPA and the completion of major prerequisite courses to determine admission. Hopefully I’ll turn out to be useful in other ways, though!
- not for transfer but I believe you will have to explain

Also check the [UCLA Transfer Facts 2016](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1887036-ucla-transfer-facts-2016-edition-p1.html) thread

Hey, no problem guys! I’ll be posting my stats soon.
@mightyMETA None of the UC’s require either. You’re also very competitive, but you probably know that. Keep up the good work!
@mathgal Are you pre-law? If so, DEFINITELY talk about that in your personal insight questions. Pre-law STEM people have it rough, but they’ll definitely find that interesting.
I’m currently an in-state CC student ! I can’t believe I’m already writing in a transfer chance thread. time really flies…
Major: Sociology
GPA: 4.0
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Complete
Prereqs: Complete
TAG: no
ECs: This is what I’m really concerned about. I’ve had a part time job for the two years that I’ve been at my CC and I’ve volunteered a couple times but that’s it. I’m planning on joining my campus’s sociology circle next semester but I’m not sure if that’s going to be enough.
Also I have a question if anybody knows anything about this…I took my prereqs for a grade, but I ended up taking 2 of my IGETC classes pass/fail, both over summer semesters. I know you can transfer with a certain amount of p/f classes and I’m within that limit, but I wasn’t sure if those classes being GE classes would affect my admission chances at all since UCLA is so competitive…
Intuitively, I don’t think taking a couple GEs p/f will make a difference; here’s what I found so far:
Berkeley’s Guidelines for p/f grades (for non-transfer students)
https://ls.berkeley.edu/advising/academic-progress/grades/passednot-passed-grades
“Courses taken to fulfill the American Cultures requirement and the L&S Seven-Course Breadth requirement may be taken P/NP.”
Obviously this doesn’t answer your question directly but I think it’s a good sign that Berkeley allows p/f GEs for their own students. I found the link in this thread, maybe you’d want to check it out:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1781402-will-ucla-rescind-me-for-failing-a-pass-no-pass-class-p1.html
Great GPA BTW, I think you’re more than competitive for UCLA transfer; your major had a similar acceptance rate to mine last year, something around 43%
@rainbubble Taking IGETC courses P/NP is totally fine. I think it’s recommended to take English and Math courses for a letter grade, so as to show proficiency, but taking a couple of courses P/NP is generally fine.
CCC Transfer/ Academic Renewal - applying with two full and consecutive years of transfer work

-Continued self study for further math classes.
Personal Statement:
- In progress. Carefully selecting which questions I should use to explain my “very poor” academic past and the strengths I’ve gained since then.
