FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

Has anybody been able to log into the page where you check your UCLA admissions status? I just tried several times and it just said “record not found.”

@TL0067 Did you receive an email from them recently telling you, “Thank you for applying to…To monitor your application’s progress, please check your student portal.” ?

i never got an email like this from ucla, just berkeley and uci, but on the uc app site it aays it was forwarded 12/02. should i be concerned as to why i didn’t get an actual email?

@TL0067 I think you might be a bit early for that :stuck_out_tongue: I just tried to login and got the same message

@cmdchavezz No, you shouldn’t be concerned. I don’t think any of us got it from UCLA yet, so far just Berkeley (for me). @TL0067 I think it will work once we get that email from UCLA.

@mightyMETA Hahahaha ya I wasn’t quite expecting my decision just yet, but I just figured that since we can log in to the Berkeley portal already I would give the others a try, too. And thank you @LynAmmo, I’m glad to see it’s not just me.

@TL0067 Same happens to me.

Just received email confirmation that my application was received!

@jjcc77 Same.

Haven’t received UCLA email either. I’ve only gotten Berkeley and Irvine so far with login details. Hopefully it should come this month.

just received ucla! only need ucsb left

Hey guys, I have a concern.

I am only going to be taking 1 class for winter, and only 2 classes for Spring since I am already at 50 units and do not want to go too much over 60 units. Do you think the universities will look at that as a red flag? Keep in mind that I will also plan to work full-time during that time.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!

@gosteelers123abc I would make sure they know you’re working full-time just in case; did you mention that on your app? You can email them to make an update if you already sent the apps in

Keep in mind, going over usually means less classes to take at the UC.

I know it early in the game and this is a long post but can someone chance me I want to do a uc to uc transfer from davis in hopes of going to ucla I am changing my major to a less impacted african american studies for ucla and Ancient Near East and Egyptology as an alternate. I applied to ucla last time and was rejected for sociology and i had all my perquisite done. when i called they said that everything was good it was just that sociology was impacted and my gpa was not high enough being a 3.1. Here are my stats so far. I with drew this quarter because i was getting f in both of my two in progress classes and i have yet to do the second perquisite for african american studies since it not offered at my school. What major would be best for me to have a slightchance. i also have been working this summer and currently at uc davis while participating in black student union and nigerian student association. fall 2014 really hurt me do to having c in community college

@gosteelers123abc don’t worry about going above 60 units. I transferred in with way more than that. They just capped me at 105 quarter units and now I have a far more manageable schedule to get me to what I need to graduate. 3 classes a quarter and one summer session will get me the units I need to graduate. If you can take a few extra mellow classes to rack up a few extra units, I would recommend doing so.

Looks like I’m done for this year, I failed a class this semester, I am going to retake, but I’m sure my chances are gone. Anyways, goodluck to the rest of you! I’ll be looking forward to read the anxiety post come April lol

@ericeo Why did you fail it? :o Do you plan on staying at CC for another year if you don’t get into UCLA? I’ve been asking myself that question and have decided I’d happily go to UCSB or UCSD

With my stats do i have a good chance

@mightMETA It was just a mix of a lot of things. A really close uncle passed away. I just started to feel really apathetic about things and I couldn’t really get myself motivated again. And it was 2nd semester OChem which is pretty damn hard. I was thinking about it and I might spend another year and apply again once I get back on track. There are still quite a few “strongly recommended” classes I haven’t had time to take. I won’t really know what I’m gonna do until April. I’d be happy with any engineering school I get into. My second choice after UCLA is UCI, so if I get accepted there I’ll probably just go there. I’m not a strong believer in school rank, so I don’t care much about the school name, I care more about the research taking place there and how much I like the campus.

I’m really just hoping my ECs and essays will be enough for them to overlook this hiccup.
ECs: Year long internship at a Lufthansa electroplating lab (later got promoted to lab tech for a few months), summer doing research at USC microbiology lab, and some freelance work for a company that makes carbon emission simulators.
Essays: I thought they were good.

P.S. I’ve been thinking a lot about staying another year, and I realized I’m not losing much by staying another year because I’m not really in any rush to graduate. Also I’m not 100% sure about chemical engineering, so I can take this time to really explore my options. I think I’d rather wait another year and apply again than go to a school I’m not too fond of (expect for UCI). We’ll see. Wish me luck.
