Hey, guys! So I’m looking at my financial aid for UCLA, and I don’t know where to look to see if I received any scholarships. Does anyone else know? Has anyone else received any scholarships?
Congratulations to everyone! We have all worked so hard and deserve to go to whichever school we will end up at. I want to especially congratulate my fellow Bruins! Try to aim for and keep up with B’s and A’s this semester; you got this far and you can keep going for the next month or so! See you at Bruin Transfer Day and for the new semester…Fours up!
@tuannguyenn no it probably has to do w/ the fact that you did not complete the 3rd physics class. Completing the pre reqs for CS is very important to your chances of getting into UCLA for CS
@FutureLawyer88@goldenheart you’re pre history until you finish your last pre-req for the major, only offered at UCLA. You choose between a 96 or 97 seminar class. I’d suggest taking a 97. The 96 fulfills a lower division writing requirement, so more papers. You can still take other classes for the major before taking your seminar, but you’re just considered pre history. It’s best to get it out of the way early though, since you have to do a senior seminar for the major as well. It would be a little annoying to do those in the same quarter, even in consecutive quarters you might feel a little drained.
I’d suggest going to the orientation, earlier session the better. You get to register classes before the official registration date. Those seminar classes fill up fast. They’re small, only 20 people. I went to the first orientation date and the seminars were probably around 85% filled up that day. The one I registered for was closed by the second session.
@uclahopeful2017 No I think Bruin day is like to explore the campus and stuff like that and orientation is like around August, but I’m just getting this info from like you tubers who go to UCLA, so you might wanna confirm.
Major: Pre Psychology
GPA: 3.8
Pre-reqs: Will be finishing them up this semester
IGETC: Completed
Essays: Ehhh, I would say they were a 7.5/10
ECs: 5+ years of volunteer work at my church (worship team leader, youth counselor, etc), TA for summer school
TAG: UCI
Admitted: UCI, UCLA
@uclahopeful2017 different things. Bruin day you just take campus tours and get basic info about the different majors and minors.
Orientation has like a dozen or more different dates to choose from. You get there early in the morning, like 7 or 8 am. You get your bruin card. You do more tours, do some tradition stuff, watch some presentations about the school, then more presentations on not drinking too much and not sexually assaulting people. Then you meet in small groups with your department and get a presentation on your major requirements. They give you a paper with where you stand within the requirements, where your classes transfer over. Then you meet up one-on-one with a peer advisor who makes you up a class plan based on what you received in your departmental meeting. They’ll suggest you take two major classes and one elective. No one in my group did that, we all did strictly major classes. Then at the very end of the day, 7pm, you register for your fall quarter classes, which is the only reason that everyone is there.
@LynAmmo
Even on a good day it is hard to get someone from financial aid on the phone. I’m sure today is in sane. Your best bet is to message them- they are responsive. Go in the financial aid website. Find your counselor (based on your last name). Then you can send them a message by logging into My UCLA. You can keep trying via phone too, but sending the message will already put you in the queue.
@Twenmi Yes I think that does matter to. But I’ve seen a few people with missing prereqs got admitted so I think strong EC’s and essays can make up for that!! Anw hopefully I’ll get into Cal otherwise UCSD is the way to go lol
