@Edirol For electives, does it have to be an English elective or just any elective? I was looking at the requirements for the english upper division and it said something about English electives.
So for housing if we choose to live in the dorms and pay quarterly you have to pay the summer installments even if we aren’t living there during the summer?
I dont think so, but you have to move out. You apply for housing every year, if you get it, you will move in again in the following September, etc. if you decide to take summer classes, then pay the summer installment.
Nobody received regents email?
@uclahopeful2017 – I believe you have to take 2 English electives while you’re at UCLA, but the rest can be any other upper division course that doesn’t have any restrictions (upper div are courses that are numbered 100-199).
For electives, I’ve stuck to art history, American history, and Classics (there are so many incredible courses that center around Greek myth that I try to enroll in those as often as I can!)
Thanks a lot for your help! As I get closer to orientation, if I have any other questions I will definitely PM you! Thanks again @Edirol
@haroldg3rd I can only say that as long as you’ve completed the prereqs for the original major and it isn’t impacted, all you can do is apply to switch to it. You’ll probably have to meet an advisor and get their help. Good luck!
ETA you may get that #UCLABOUND in the mail!
@tylerdrod The housing charges start in July for the upcoming year. See the housing rates link I posted up thread.
ETA They do that so the cost is spread out over 11 months although the cost is not equal every month or quarter.
Everyone, check your e-mails because UCLA just sent me one saying that I was selected to apply for the Regents Scholarship!!!
Yay!! received an invite for regents two mins ago
@uclahopeful2017 I agree with @Edirol
Two English classes and an elective but keep checking your DAR and visit your advisor quarterly to stay on track. My daughter who graduated last year, ended up taking 19 units last Spring so she wouldn’t have to take a summer or fall course. She finished with exactly 180 units. She really enjoyed the Film and TV electives (screenwriting, I think) and Comparative Lit courses (one was a 4 unit class taken last Spring). Also, she liked the poetry courses which were not as writing intensive.
And I have to recommend Braunmuller if he’s still there. I took a course with him some decades ago!
I guess Im not getting the regents thing then, so sad.
didn’t get into berkeley, LOL. knew i wouldn’t. UCLA!!!
@LynAmmo do you know if we can submit them online? i saw a link to submit but i wasn’t sure if it was an official one
I just got the regents invite!
I GOT INVITED FOR REGENTS OMG
Congrats to everyone who’s getting Regents invites. Now we have to do an essay and get a letter of rec… Hm. How difficult or selective is it? Any past Regents to offer insight on this ?
Didn’t get regents but got Alumni scholarship invite. How much do they offer for Regents?
I just got my REGENTS invitation!!!
I got invited for regents, but I already declined my admissions. Best of luck to all.
