FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@msipmla There’s suppose to be. I guess people didn’t make one this year.

@LynAmmo They’re not taking it away lol you belong there, I could tell from like your first post you would get into either UCLA or UCB

@mightyMETA Congratulations on Berkeley dude! You deserve it!!

@LynAmmo Thanks :smiley: I’d be lying if I said I didn’t drink an entire bottle of wine the night of my rejection out of despair, but what goes down must come up I guess

Just a word to the wise. If you take an elective, take something that you will understand.

I’ve got to give Anthro and Philosophy majors a lot of credit. Their brains work in interesting ways. I took 1 class that was based off Anthro and Phil at UCLA, and it was entitled Religion and Morality. I swear, I think we spent 2 weeks talking about what it meant to be good is, “were we good because, it was good to be good, or are we good because we want to be good”. I was sitting in class bewildered as the rest of the class were having these heated arguments. I was like thinking “dude, I don’t know, it means you’re good”.

We had to read Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard, Charles Taylor and some other people. I think I read through a couple sentences and I was like, I am in a world of trouble. Granted I squeaked by a B but I think by some miracle the professor bought into the complete B.S. I wrote on my final exam. I thought I was doomed for a C.

Being a history major, history has concrete factors in its study, this happened, that happened, it happened during this time, and perhaps we theorize why certain things happened occurred.

After that class, I just took all history courses. No more venturing outside of my comfort zone, no siree Bob! And it is true, a lot of student who take courses that is outside of their major tend to struggle.

So, if you do take a course that is outside of your comfortzone, sit in class for a couple sessions, or even one then decide. I did that with a Art History course, and I dropped after a single session.

I just got an email from ucla financial aid asking for additional forms it’s about to begin y’all

I’m so glad the IRS forms that they’re requesting is the same ones that USC did so I already have those. Guys I can’t stress enough on doing these forms right because they’ll just send you a form saying you need to fix your mistakes a month later and it’s going to be a month wait until you actually get the correct form.

does anyone know how it works if you drop a class after being admitted? I already emailed them and explained my situation, but they said it could take 15 days to get a response, and they last day to drop with a W is next week…

I’m a psych major and i completed all my requirements. I’m currently taking math analysis 2 because i needed it for ucsd and i plan to apply to med school later on. This class is not required for UCLAs psych major - i already finished statistics, which is required. I have way over 60 units. I currently have a C in the class and I might be able raise it up to a B, but i don’t want to take that risk, and i wouldn’t be happy with a B because i know i could’ve easily gotten an A if the circumstances were different this semester. Does anyone know if this will affect my admission?

How are you guys finding out about these IRS forms? I haven’t gotten any request-- Do they do it for everyone?

@cmdchavezz I think we can start signing up for Fall classes on the June 8th event

You don’t sign up for classes until Orientation. That’s how they get you to attend Orientation AND stay ALL day. If you show up too late or leave too early, you won’t get to register for classes. Sign up for an early orientation date if possible. #1) Classes DO fill up despite them telling you they won’t. Some classes do have saved spots for later orientations, but not all. #2) You’ll relieve more anxiety by going early to an early Orientation because you won’t be stressed about getting classes. It will already be done!

@bertmansarah awesome ! Message me on here we should talk on facebook or something if you wanna look into finding roommates!

Do people who SIR early get earlier orientation opportunity or how/when do we sign up for orientation once already SIR’ing?

@uclahopeful2017

No. I SIR’d right away. it has more to do when you want to go or when a time is open. I SIR’d early and my orientation was the second to last one.

Are there any business econ students looking to room?

For apts

@williamyang
I am a biz econ major, but I think I will be living on campus for the first year. We should have a facebook group as the biz econ or econ student man.

Someone should make a Facebook page for a roommate search for admits who plan to stay ON campus. I don’t want them to just stick me with someone without me getting to know them first. I’ve watched to many roommate horror storytimes on youtube :-SS

@LynAmmo I agree! At least ucsb had transfer apartments just for transfer students but la you just gotta try your best to make new friends and find good roommates I guess X_X

Where do I go to sign up for orientation??
