@dreamla It just means that they have what you sent, but they are still waiting for your spring grades before it’s final.
I’m still waiting for my admission packet 8-|
That’s not good advice, to be honest. It is okay to have some down time from studying and go on YouTube, College Conf, or whatever website you enjoy. During midterms and finals at UCLA, I would always take breaks away from studying and I did just fine. It is impossible to lock yourself up and study every minute you have. You need your brain to shift its focus on other aspects.
@uclaparent9 @Tik1127 thank you both for the advice and motivation haha idc man I just need that B to chill and not have my admissions taken away honestly.
I just noticed that I made a huge mistake on my application. I wrote that I got a C+ in stead of a D+ in my Introductory Microeconomics class. It was unintentional/honest mistake. I am a Korean language major. Does anyone know/ heard of a situation like this? That was the only mistake on the app
Not a problem, you’ll get your B, don’t sweat it. Stress is the #1 downfall for students. My motto throughout my academic career was hakuna matata.
You should notify UCLA at once. Unintentional or not, a mistake needs to be reported.
@Tik1127
I did, would there be a chance that my acceptance will be rescinded?
Macro econ I believe was one of the IGETC requirements. Sometimes getting a D is worse than getting an F, some CC’s won’t allow you to retake it. So, there might be a possibility that UCLA could rescind your admission. Even though it is not a major requirement, you basically received a D in the course. You just have to wait until you get an answer or give them a call Monday morning.
So I applied to ucla with a 4.0 gpa and I’m afraid I won’t be able to pull it off this semester. If most of my grades drop to B’s should I still contact them since it’s technically a drop in academic performance?
@sc4589. What do you mean you only need a 3.0 last semester! Also don’t get a C on any major prerequisite! Just try your hardest I would be sweating if i needed a 4.0 the last semester. I highly doubt you need that
@march24 if that class was done at a CCC, you might consider retaking it this summer for academic renewal or take something else from that IGETC section. Admissions may accept the initiative of this plan and forgive your mistyping the D+ grade.
@Happy2Help
I actually took that course at a 4 year institution my first year of college and then spent my time at a CCC for the past two years. Should I still be taking at my current CCC?
I have completed 4 from that section not including the D+ course at my current CCC.
@march24 no, now, I think you’d better follow up and ask them. My answer was based on what a friend’s daughter did to keep her acceptance even with a D grade, but your situation is a bit different. I also feel that since the class has nothing to do with your major, they’ll take that into consideration. Good luck!
i just declined my offer to ucsd and now it’s telling me “we received your request to decline our offer of admission” while sending me an email that says “thank you for submitting your SIR”
the same for uci and ucsb
I declined the offer then they thank me for submitting my SIR, then wish me luck on my academic endeavors.
That’s normal right? I’m just kinda paranoid, don’t wanna accidentally sir to anywhere besides UCLA
@bettertransfer A SIR is “statement of intent to register”. We typically equate that to “yes I’m attending”, but it really just means that you’ve let the school know your intentions one way or the other. So they thanked you for letting them know.
@2016Candles thx!! ok yea, I did assume SIR’ing meant that I would attend the school
@Happy2Help thank you!
does anyone know how hard it would be to double major as a transfer student? I was admitted as an English major but I want to also major in International Disciplinary Studies
@bettertransfer Do you mean International Development Studies or ?
I can confirm that the English major coursework is reading and writing intensive. Double majoring may require a couple more quarters.
ETA Due to your missing prereqs, look at Comparative Lit if you have another language experience to change to, and maybe add IDS?
Maybe take World Lit at CC during the summer?
@march24 none of us can give you an answer. You need to reach out. It is definitely grounds for a rescind, but you might be able to talk your way out of it. If you were using the class for IGETC, it doesn’t fulfill it as you need a C or above. If the latter is the case and they assume you have full IGETC through spring, that’s a double whammy.
I’m not sure how much they believe honest mistake in these cases. I’m not saying it was deliberate, but you kind of would be fully aware if you had a D and somehow it didn’t get on the application. While it certainly could be a clerical error, remember admissions has seen it all - from blowhards to blatant misrepresentations. So how they take the news may not be the same as how you take the news.
