Just got my ucla admissions packet
it come with a folder and brochures and a little ucla bound sign
I received my package today too. It does not smell good like some have claimed, but it is the best one among the ones I received. It really makes me feel welcomed.

I still haven’t heard a response from admissions, but I am worried about possibly getting a C in my geology class, which I am only taking as a requirement for my AA-T. I am an anthropology major, all my ASSIST courses were completed prior to this year. Its too late to drop anything, I literally only took it because its the last class I need for my associates and I was considering going to a CSU which gives you priority if you have an AA-T. If it isn’t major prep, does it matter!?
Also, my IGETC has been done since last year so I don’t need it for a physical science either. I am just worried it will drop my GPA below what it’s at now, 3.51. It’s a 4 unit class…

Give them a call in the morning and tell them your situation, do not wait for an e-mail. Get up in the morning, or whatever time they open, and call right at that time and continue to call till you speak to an actual person. I do not want to say you painted yourself into a corner but it is a tricky situation. I do not think UCLA will say “yeah, it’s fine, take the F, we’ll still accept you.” I sense they will say, you have to finish up and we can take it from there.
If it is too late to drop anything, getting a C would be far more forgiving than getting an F. There could still be a chance that UCLA will be okay with it if you tell them your situation.
You said you can’t drop it, so you might as well finish up in the class and work for a B. Go to your professor’s office hours and ask for help. Drop a subtle hint such as “I’m going to work as hard as I can to finish strong and at least get a B. I was admitted to UCLA and I am not allowed to get anything lower since I SIR’d”. Do not flat out ask, “Hey dude, can you cut me some slack and give me a B because it would totally suck for my admissions to get rescinded if I get a C.” Obviously, you wouldn’t say that but it is important for your professor to know you are willing to take the extra step.

hey guys so i got A’s in summer 2016, fall 2016, winter 2017. But in my app I put A+ instead of A since my college doesn’t offer that. You think it’s gunna be a problem?
@cspoon1126 We have no idea what they will do but as it’s not needed for anything the odds are you’re ok, although you didn’t say what is in your provisional. If you don’t have a final grade they can’t say much even if you call - although you probably should call to discuss. Just work on getting a B-.

@FaithGraceUC Mine doesn’t smell anything more than paper, they forgot to spray some on mine or something? Lol
Mine has almost an alarming smell— I thought it was weird and was happy to see other people mention it or else I’d feel crazy.
I never got anything from UCI or UCR even though I got in. Berkeley’s welcome package was underwhelming. SD gave me a bracelet! lol. UCLA is the best tho-- because that’s where I’m going : D
UCI gave fun stickers and was more colorful/vibrant. UCLA’s was kind of underwhelming for me. I was at least anticipating a sticker, but still nonetheless exciting to have received the package of acceptance

I have a question: Are the major prerequisites the classes that are listed on assist.org for the major?
Also if they are, what if i complete them by the spring quarter after I apply? Will this put me at a disadvantage at getting accepted vs. if I had completed all of the classes by the time I applied in fall quarter?
Does the packet come through USPS? Haha
I was expecting for some stickers or UCLA store discount vouchers lol. The UCSD welcome letter looks really … simple, it doesn’t even have color. Berkeley’s letter is the best but the package makes me feel not being welcomed. UCLA gives us everything we need, map, orientation, bruin day… my opinions could be biased since im going there haha

A word of advice for those who will commit to attending UCLA: try to make the most of it. They have a lot to offer. And don’t slack off. The quarter system can be tough, so try to be ready to work in week 1; you’ll be better prepared than most if you do this, trust me.

Has anyone who had to go through further financial document verification gotten notified of their aid amount yet? The website status turned to “received” for all my documents on May 1st, and I know it takes a while to review it. Money is a big factor in whether I can go to UCLA, so I need to know asap to know where to start sending my transcripts if anything.
