Many get in from a 4-year. Congrats and good luck!
They sent me an email last week asking for college transcripts from a previous college in which I had to get academic renewal. I think they were just checking if I was lying about getting academic renewal or not? I got scared lol.
Any one chance me please? I am so nervous as everyone does…

I am an international transfer student. I wonder if the chance is lower or higher for international students for transfer. I heard something weird that “International stus got higher chance”, which sounds not reliable to me.
Thank you in advance and good luck to you all !
@4UCBClay I think you have a strong chance, solid EC"s, I’ve never heard of international students having an advantage from what I’ve gathered.
Hi, when did you apply to UMich? I literally just applied on 2/1. Was it rolling?
Chance me please?

I was originally going to apply to the Communications program, but after realizing that I had to include my college transcripts from 10+ years ago, it brought my 4.0 gpa down to a 3.80. Since the average GPA for that program is 3.93, I gave up on that dream. Hoping I still have solid stats for a sociology applicant, though.
Thanks in advance, and best of luck to the rest of you guys.
@rp1521 I am sure that non-traditional students have a priority. I am non-trad too. I have some hopes on that. Your upward in grades will play a good role in the decision. Also, sociology is not very impacted major. I know a girl from our CC, she got accepted to sociology last year with 3.6 or smth. So I think you are at a good shape. Good Luck!
Yeah, go UCLA! The best damn UC ever! I transferred here back in 2014 and am now finishing my first year at the medical school here. Pick UCLA, you will not regret it! The undergraduate experience here is just to die, with so much opportunity! There is a reason why we received the most applicants:
1.) We have some of the best dining halls, all with different themes; some of them are open until 2AM when you get those late night munchies. And if you’re vegan or vegetarian, we have a dining hall for you that is specifically geared to that and the dining hall is rated one of the healthiest in the country! If not, ALL dining halls have incredible vegan options; we have Mediterranean, Chinese, Korean American, and vegan styled dining halls, it’s incredible! And if you don’t have a dining hall plan, your friends can swipe you into them, it’s that simple and fun to do!
2.) Our gym is open 24/7, no excuse for staying fit
3.) We offer yoga classes, meditation areas are all over campus, and health-promoting services! We have a pharmacy on our campus, and if you ever need medication, and cannot pay for it at that moment, it goes straight to your bruin bill so you can pay it off later with no interest! (thank God for this system, it relives stress!). We have AMAZING healthcare, I can get treated at the world-famous Ronald Reagan hospital if I wanted to right now! I got my root canals done at a top notch dental office across the street, FREE OF CHARGE THANKS TO MY INSURANCE OFFERED BY THE UNIVERSITY!
4.) You will never go hungry here, if you have no food, there are places you can go that will afford you a free meal. Also, we have a place in the SAC center where you can get food for free, and this is all ON CAMPUS!
5.) The weather is amazing!
6.) You live right in front of beverly hills and Bel Air, WHO CAN SAY THAT?
7.) The college town has the best grocery stores ever like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, so you can keep healthy if this is a lifestyle you prefer! We also have hookah lounges, bars, and amazing food stope–don’t forget In-N-Out!
8.) There are so many opportunities for premedical students in our hospital that is ranked number 5 in the nation and #1 in California! Dude, I even met the researcher who was the first ever to turn adult pluripotent cells into STEM CELLS; he lectured about his research in our class, C’MON NOW you can’t get anymore relevant than that!
9.) The campus is gorgeous; we have botanical gardens and even sculpture gardens where you can just chill out and talk about life!
10.) We are on the QUARTER system which is so DOPE! You get done with classes faster than a traditional semester system and before you know it, it’s time to graduate!
11.) There are so many opportunities in research, it’s sickening! We have over 1000 clubs on our campus, and if you do not like them, you can create your own!
12.) You can TEACH a class for a quarter if you’d like on whatever subject you choose and get some teaching experience!
13.) The dorms are like hotels, you can get food delivered to you if you are not feeling well, you have room service where they clean your room once or twice a week and stock you up with toiletries if necessary. Good living!
14.) Everyone is so nice and welcoming, we just go to the best damn school ever, I am sorry! UC Berkeley is considered the first best public university, and we are number 2 but I think that needs to be switched around because the dynamic environment of UCLA takes the cake!
I swear to God, every time I walk around the campus I see tours being given from first graders to international students who just hopped off the jet, everybody and their mother wants to come to this school, and it is an awesome feeling to say you go here or have graduated from here! Bro, all of my friends who did not go to UCLA are jealous of me and when they visit me, I put them on to the school–they fall in love with the culture and the sheer amount of stuff that goes on in a given day, it is CRAZY here. The campus is NEVER DEAD!
There is a reason why we are the most applied to university in the damn country! Haters will hate, but I am SO GLAD I DID NOT GO TO ANY OTHER UC SCHOOL (I considered Berkeley), but HONEST TO GOD UCLA IS THE SPOT! Pick us if you are accepted, you will not regret it! Oh, my God I can go on and on about UCLA, you just have to come find out and see for yourself!
If you have ANY QUESTIONS about this university, HIT ME UP!!!
@UCLAFFF Lol, I live in LA at the off campus USC dorms and the only reason I didn’t apply to USC to transfer is bc I absolutely HATE the location. I’m aways hanging around the Beverly Hills/Westwood/Santa Monica area though, so I love UCLA’s location, along with everything else of course. Especially bc I always go to Westwood Village while USC has nothing equivalent to it. ANYWAY, I’m really looking forward to (hopefully) transferring to UCLA next sem. I’m gonna be a junior, and my question is if it’s normal to dorm? I really want to live on campus, but I know that people usually get off campus apartments by junior year. What is the normal situation there for most students in your opinion? And will the dorm experience be different for a transfer than it was for someone there since freshman year?
It’s normal to live in dorms as a first year transfer, there is a dorm specific to transfers called Gardenia, also Holly (another dorm) has transfers on floors 3-4, I think. But these are not the only dorms exclusive to transfers, you will find transfers in a bunch of other dorms, but there is a dense community of transfers in Gardenia, especially.
I lived in the off campus apartments (Gayley Towers), and I loved it there, although I did not have a meal plan. I was gucci, though, because my friends who had 19P meal plans (you’ll understand what this means once you transfer in) swiped me in to the dining halls all the time, some days I didn’t even have to cook. But I loved the independent living of the apartments.
The dorm experience is not the same for everyone, but in general it’s the same between transfer and freshmen. Transfers and freshman have different needs, however, so that may make a difference in your experience in the dorms.
@UCLAFFF so would it be better to go w the off campus apartment or the dorms? how are the experiences different?
@cmdchavezz It depends on what you prefer, the dorms are definitely more community-based and you get to know your residents (if you somewhat try). Living in the apartments is different, as it’s more like individualized living and no sense of community. Very quiet, and nice to come home to if you just want silence and not have friends banging on your dorm begging you to come hang out with the in the lounges or somewhere.
I would always pick the apartments over the dorms any day, you will not miss out. You’re literally right across the street from the dorms, haha.
@UCLAFFF Hi, I have a question about transfer admission. I have an AA degree in a foreign country about 10 years ago. I did not have a good academy record in that period. Yesterday I received an email, and UC required me to submit my foreign college’s transcript. I am worried about that bad GPA at ten years ago has a bad effect on my admission. I believe the bad GPA is not UC transferable. I took all the UC transferable units from CA community college and got 3.75 GPA. Any opinion is appreciated.
Rule of thumb: If courses are not transferrable, do not sweat it.
10 years ago? Don’t worry about it. Also, unless I’m wrong, very few foreign courses transfer.
@UCLAFFF Thank you very much for your reply
@Ohm888 Thanks for making my mind peaceful
@UCLAFFF I was going to PM this to you but I thought maybe someone else could benefit from it being on the page. Although I am a UCLA local, should I be accepted into the school, I will be living on campus! I really want to live in a university-owned student apartment because I have ADHD and really need a quiet place to be able to work, sleep, etc. HOWEVER, I am extremely shy and although I make friends easily, that’s only if I do not have to initiate the conversation. I would love to be in a more social setting like the dorms (If I could have a single room), but I’m worried about to noise. I’m also somewhat afraid of small spaces and would like the extra room of a studio apartment. I’ve been in the UCLA dorms when I spent a week there after graduating high school and loved it but I think that’s just because I didn’t have to live there for longer than a week. My question is…Should I go for the studio apartment or a single dorm room if my biggest concerns are Parking (yes, I plan to bring my car), having A/C, living in a room bigger than a shoe box, social life…and worst of all…I really hate sharing a bathroom. I can’t even share one with my mom without us losing our minds.
