FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

April 21st can’t come fast enough! OTL

@“osazuwa ogbeide” Out of curiosity, why didn’t you like your time at Davis? My TAG was accepted and I would seriously consider attending unless UCLA or UC Berkeley accepts me.

@Salmanthgr8 What would you say the hardest part of your transition was from CC to UCLA? Any advice? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer us.

Any other psychology majors on this thread?

@Theendingquest I am! but I actually just applied as a pre-psych major and I’m planning to switch to Anthropology if I get in. I know that sounds dumb because psych is so competitive, but I had a last minute major change and it was basically my only hope of getting in at all haha

@junemoon That’s not dumb at all haha, it happens. Would you mind sharing some of your educational background with me?

@Theendingquest Sure! So I’m pre-Med who was originally a bio major but recently switched to anthro. I’m transferring from San Diego Miramar College. I have a uc-transferable gpa of 3.95 (got a B in a humanities class). IGETC complete before transfer and all my pre-reqs are done (or I guess for the psych major they’ll be done this spring semester). I just found out last night that I’ve been accepted at UCSD! So I’m really excited but trying not to let my hopes get high for UCLA or Cal.
That’s pretty much it haha, what about yourself?

@junemoon You sound look like a really well-rounded student. Congrats on UCSD! My background is similar to yours. I’m transferring from Moreno Valley College, have a 4.0 transferable GPA (non-TAP), and will be done with pre-reqs in the spring. I’m really trying not to get my hopes up for UCLA either lol. Admission decisions are so unpredictable sometimes. Based on our stats, we have a pretty good shot though!

@Theendingquest Thanks! You’re in excellent shape yourself! I agree though, admission decisions can be unpredictable. Good luck to us both!

Hi, this is a bit irrelevant, but do any of you know if there’s UCSD Transfer Fall 2017 page?

HELP
Okay so I was randomly reviewing my supplementals (Because I am just that obsessive) and on ALL my PDF versions and google doc formats of my life challenge essay, it’s 2 pages (the maximum amount allowed) BUT on the uploaded version on their system on the supplemental website… it spaced one of the sentences out weird and made it into 3! (the last sentence being on the 3rd page.) I googled it and apparently, this has been a glitch/bug in google’s system for like six years and they never figured out how to fix it! I know that if you don’t “follow directions” for the TFT app, you get disqualified…should I call them on Monday and ask about this? Like how do I even ask that? I had like 3 panic attacks over this between last night and today. I REALLY don’t want them to take me out of the running for a spot for something that is beyond my control. I can’t fix it; I’m a film major, not an computer science major!!! :’( HELLLLP

@plsacceptmeucs Yes there is. It’s in the wrong forum and never got moved out.

Go look at the uc transfer forum near the top. I linked to it. It’s kind of bugging me because they keep pulling UC transfer posts out of this sub-forum which they never did in the past. Stuff being put all over the place, which makes things hard to find.

@MiniGrace11 It would be stupid if they rejected you over a glitch. You should contact admissions and share your concerns with them explicitly if it will help you relax though, but afterward you should just put it out of your mind until april

@mightyMETA yeah, I think that’s a good idea. Or should I send an e-mail that way it’s documented? I seriously doubt that they would hold it against me but I just wonder if they know about the glitch. Especially with decisions coming out soon. TFT releases before the colleges of letters and sciences so they should be notifying transfers by April 14th.

@MiniGrace11 Yes I would send an email as well; that’s what I did when I had to tell them about a W I forgot to report.

@MiniGrace11 The supplemental material is specific to the film program there, right? I don’t think anything was required of anyone else… Ughh lol

Posted this in the UCB Transfer thread but I figured it couldn’t hurt to post it here too!

@lexluther96 well the supplemental application for film, was five pages of creative writing samples, a 2-page personal essay, a 3-page critical essay, and a 2-page essay about a life challenge and how you overcame it. Art majors had portfolios to submit, dance/theater majors had auditions, and nursing had a supplemental essay I believe. I’m almost positive that only the applicants to the college of letters and sciences do not have anything to submit beyond the normal application and the TAU.

UCLA vs Cal? Which is better in your opinion ?

What is “better”?
