FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

Wow third time? So you applied when you were in highschool, first year of college, and now? If you changed your intended major to be accepted to UCLA beside other UCs, I dont think this is a good move.

@“osazuwa ogbeide” That is rough good luck man

@andrewjchang yep I applied during high school in 2013 and fall 2015 and know again in 2017. Im currently at uc Davis this is my second quarter I’m not liking it the quarter system is to fast

I don’t know if you knew, but UCLA is on the quarter system as well. UC Berkeley and UC Merced are the only UCs that are on the semester system. @“osazuwa ogbeide”. You wouldn’t be escaping the quarter system by transferring to another school on the quarter system.

@“osazuwa ogbeide” yeah not only is UCLA on the quarter system as well, but the courses will also be more difficult to get the grade you want than at Davis.

I was gonna add that too, @justinmega1. You should definitely at least consider staying at Davis. It’s a great school (my 3rd choice!). Other than the quarter system, what don’t you like about Davis? @“osazuwa ogbeide”

I do think so too. Stay at UC Davis, it is a great school. If they rejected your application twice, it means there is some detrimental information on your application, such as GPA, major prerequisites, and especially the personal statement. If you criticized UC Davis in your statement about something, they may think that you will encounter the similar problems at UCLA, and you will also hate it after your transfer. It just my opinion.

@mightyMETA you completed english 101 during intercession? pretty sure you were supposed to complete that (and the second english class, and the math) before the end of fall 2016.

i didn’t take intercession classes so i didn’t get an email, i wouldn’t worry about it

does anyone know how competitive physics is at ucla for transfer? im worried because all of the counselors (including a ucla one) i spoke with said i would most likely get in even though i have a relatively low gpa…i don’t really get why they said that and i dont want to get my hopes up either (had below a 3.5 when i applied but will have all major courses by end of this spring).

@otoribashi no you have until Spring 2017 to finish anything/all.

So guys, I asked the AO whether submitting another TAU after January 31 makes my TAU not on time anymore. And here is the response:

“Thank you for notifying our office. The priority deadline to submit the Transfer Academic Update (TAU) form was January 31, 2017. However, we will continue to accept additional TAU forms for review up until the end of March. We received the TAU form you submitted on March 17, 2017. We will contact you if we require additional information or clarification. We also recommend that you contact all the other UC campuses that you’ve applied to regarding your data change.”

So if you submitted it on time, and now you have good grades for your winter classes, you should update it now. You have until March 31 to submit your winter grades and they will take them into consideration too.

Chance me?

Gpa is way too weak, but if they ever read my essay and see my awards and all ECs… would there be a chance??

your gpa is still above the 25th percentile and your ec’s are great and if your essays are great as said they were. Then you should be good. It would be great if you were in TAP, but we will see. But looks to me you are extremely competitive. Good luck!
