@noviceParent, I was wondering how you found out about acceptance into the Honor’s program and the provost scholarship. My sister recently got in but there was no info in her acceptance letter or anything and I’m not sure if its a seperate letter. She got a 34 ACT and 1510/1600 SAT so I’m not sure if we are waiting for something that’s not coming or not. Thanks and congrats for your son!
@curioussister Your sister has great stats from what you showed but there is so much else. They usually have Honors and Provost right in the acceptance letter. At least that is how it was for us. Did she apply late? I only ask because she only recently got her acceptance.
@Tinijocaro yes, she applied jan 22 so I don’t know if maybe all the spaces get filled up but its definitely disappointing because she is very qualified. Her stats are good but she also is an all-state alternate for cello performance, does lots of performance groups, bakes cookies to raise money to train service dogs for veterans, and is in 3 honor societies, and has taken about 6 (no exaggeration here) APs with grades of 4s and 5s . I’m not sure who she can talk to about this, it definitely feels like she’s been overlooked.
@curioussister Honestly I think her late application hurt her chances at scholarships. Not to say that if she called and asked for her application to be looked over again they wouldn’t find some money. It’s worth a shot. Also, congrats on the All State-I’m a string teacher:)
@Kashish, @Tinijocaro Does any of you remember if you were given UB Person ID Number on the portal before getting accepted. It was not there for a long time, but now I had it for at least 2 weeks. I called they just say it may take couple of days or few weeks when we would here.
Do you guys if their answer means they are holding on to see if they get enough better applicants? Sorry, just getting really anxious.
@collegeselect I received my UB number after I got accepted… It’s strange… About the hold, I guess it’s right because all my classmates and I have high stats and got accepted, but the scholarship offers are mediocre. They offered me with 12k per year while Umass-amherst offered me 14k. So I guess many people with high stats are going to deny the admission offer. Hope this helps
What major did you guys applied for? Chemistry
@Kashish Thank you! It is very helpful. My son does not have good states especially GPA. Thanks again for explaining!!
@NASA2014 I am not sure but I think he applied to business. He is not really sure what he wants to do.
I’m accepted in the summer classes. But I haven’t heard anything for Fall 2017 yet I applied in the beginning of May tho
Has anyone been waitlisted for fall 2017 and accepted for spring 2018? Cause I was and still haven’t heard anything back for fall 2017
